Yup; this camera angle allows a nice view of the glazing that's making progress from the bottom, and the last level of steel being added to the top: https://app.oxblue.com/open/bostonuniversity

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

The height will be notably higher at 446', I think. (In any event, I have no clue as to what visual benchmark the tower will rise. I know it's not taller than the Old Hancock, but I don't know what part of that building's spire this building will top out at).

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

According to the contractor's update email, the deep foundation work won't begin until October (rather than September, which had been the stated timeline that they sent out last month). Not a big deal, but I'll feel much better once those supports are in place so that a tower can actually rise...

...The number of rooms is also being reduced from 68 to 31. Not a small change.

Thanks for posting, Brad. Broadway is in desperate need of greater density and mixed use if that major thoroughfare is ever going to be more than a fairly desolate strip. I don't expect it to be like Capital Sq. in Mass Ave (current density won't likely support that much commerce), but some...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Agreed. On the potential plus-side, perhaps the 'corporate Houston' look will become 'East Coast cutting-edge cool' in a couple of decades? I know -- that doesn't make a lot of sense, but then again I anticipate that very little about the rest of the 21st century will.

Great photos. And in the 'onward and upward' category: foundation work for the tower starts in September (whether that means next week or towards the end).

    That's being overly optimistic.

I love your post/comment. Just a small aside: it’s going to be 280’ to the top of mechanicals, right? I know precision of info wasn’t your main point in this particular instance, but thought I’d double-check.

Hurley Building Redevelopment | 19 Staniford St | West End

Good news: that area IS part of the plan. I’ve just re-read some of the proposal/planning documents on massgov, and took screen captures of the pertinent sections, which include good visual maps, but my phone is refusing to upload them right now.

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Hurley is capped at 400' (due to shade on Beacon Hill denizens). A developer could certainly fight for more, but the call for proposals stated multiple times, up front, that it would not exceed 400'. On the sarcastic plus-side: the Hurley replacement will be virtually the exact height of...

    Union Square D2.1 | 10 Prospect Street | Somerville

Quick Question: does Phase 1 of this project include the lab AND the (soon to be tallest building in Somerville, I think?) residential building? Thanks!

Dr. RR: sorry if I'm missing the obvious, but where/what is this park? Thanks!

The Parker Boston (nee LaGrange Tower) | 47-55 LaGrange St. | Downtown

I agree with you, 393b40, though I'd like to see the walls cleaned up a bit. As a product of Philly for the first two decades of my life, I'm a fan of grit; but those side walls look like shit.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Based on a quick floor count (c.25), the lower of the two halves has basically topped out, plus or minus the 'Residential Club' floor. All the remaining floors should be the narrower tower portion (floors 27-52):

I dug around for info about the giant (literal) pit in the ground at a highly central location on 1154 Broadway (in Teele Sq): https://www.google.com/maps/@42.4033825,-71.1273931,3a,60y,213.69h,83.94t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sazV2_8ZcgOIsLcc6XwT66A!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 The property has looked like...
