Working with live 3rd rail next to you, live catenary above you, in a restricted right of way or tunnel also creates time and access constraints that are not as big an issue on commuter rail. Productive work can not be accomplished in the 1:30 to 4:30 non-service hours.

Are you saying the existing line is 60 mph? I drive by it frequently in Tyngsboro and Nashua, it's looks like 10mph track.

The bridge decks on 495 in that area are in very poor shape it's a rough ride even in a car, lots of debris on the shoulders after being ejected from trucks, etc.

After the very well designed reconstruction of the Crosby Corner intersection there was hope this trend would continue west. The Taylor Rd/ Piper Rd. intersection with the large available land would so easily be converted to a overpass for relatively little money.
