West Roxbury Infill and Small Developments

And really, if the Walk Score is strong, the Transit Score can be quite a bit lower. Taking my own example, my Walk Score is 94, whereas both transit and bike score are about 60. This works just fine for me, because I can do most things by walking. And really, I think the transit and bike scores...

West Roxbury Infill and Small Developments

It should definitely be a high priority extension, but it unfortunately wouldn't help people in this particular part of West Roxbury, which is pretty far from the Needham Line ROW. Even without an OLX, the sections of Roslindale and West Roxbury along the ROW are fairly feasible for car free or...

    The Official MBTA System Map

I'm pretty sure Hynes is still not accessible, so that would be six.

Yes, I like it a lot. And by everyone, I think at least one is a negative reaction troll, who has never offered anything of value in their comments.

    The Official MBTA System Map

I would assume it won't be laying over on John F Fitzgerald Surface Road. It likely will only do that at Nubian Square, whereas South Station will be a drop-off/pick-up and go location.

The Marc (former Our Lady of Victories Church) | 25-29 Isabella Street | Bay Villiage

This discussion and a similar one about Chinatown's parking lots has made me wonder what the tipping point is for investing in a building vs sticking with the existing income stream generated by parking. In other words, at what point does restrictive zoning leave parking lots as the best...

    Roxbury Infill and Small Developments

Which kind of illustrates the futility of determining an official demarcation. Some of the current South End, all of JP/Roslindale/West Roxbury were once part of Roxbury. I'm not sure it's ever clear what precisely constitutes modern Roxbury.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I don't pass through there that often, and usually when I do I'm on a bike. But is this typical? Or might it have been due to recent weather and icing?

    15-25 Harrison Ave | Chinatown

Somehow missed this thread when it was fresh. Looks like a great project. And a huge, huge (y) to @mssrro for that incredibly researched write-up on the history of the location. And in this particular location, it appears to even include a public right of way. There is a good model for that...

I missed that part and thought he meant 20 minutes from Park to Alewife. So yeah, that is not good if it was from Harvard. Typically, though, the trains are running quite well.

Holocaust Museum Boston | 125 Tremont Street | Downtown

That's a really important point. This isn't meant to be a background building, it's meant to jar the viewer, get them out of their normal comfortable box so that they can then confront the hard lessons of the exhibits inside. Makes complete sense and I'm glad they are taking this approach.

The Loop @ Mattapan Station | Mattapan

That's unfortunate, because it was kind of a cool store. But at least the area isn't really a food desert. America's Food Basket is right around the corner, and then there are Price Chopper and Star Market within reasonable walking distance.

Yes, I would rate all three HRT colors as running very well at the moment. I haven't ridden any Green Line routes in a while, so can't comment on them, but on the other lines, it's all smooth, fast, and frequent.

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

It has to be viewed in the same manner as any other girdlock encountered by the responders. If it isn't possible to safely get to the emergency, then there is going to be a delay. As you point out, the delay isn't likely that significant for a Brightline trainset (or two), but what happens when...

    Key West, FL

Great pictures and write-up! My wife and I hit Key West for part of our honeymoon almost 30 years ago. Looks like it hasn't changed one bit.

Other People's Rail: Amtrak, commuter rail, rapid transit news & views outside New England

Definitely true, but in the comparison that @Stlin made with our commuter rail, surely the 'T operates more revenue miles than Brightline. That 43:5 Brightline:MBTA ratio is terrible even when adjusted for revenue miles. And my goodness, how did the fire fighters not follow the safety...

Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

Yes, looks like the I and F are both missing their top row. Once added, they will be the same height as the C. However, the R appears to be one row taller than the C (and once completed I and F), which I guess I can kind of understand, but still seems odd.
