Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

I like the bridge w/o the paneling, but I'm sure it'll be nice after the install. 🤷‍♂️

Interesting you bring that up. I've been a little curious about maintenance/cleaning of said domes.

Boston University - Pardee School of Global studies | 250 Bay State Road | Fenway

It's being placed in a spot which is currently surface parking, not a brownstone: "Project Description Trustees of Boston University (the “Proponent”) proposes to transform an existing 56,900-square foot (“sf”) surface parking lot into the Fredrick S. Pardee School of Global Studies (the...

Mixed Use (40B Fmr Star Market) | 299 Broadway | Winter Hill | Somerville

I hear ya and that's unquestionably true. I still find it remarkable that such a large parcel in such a competitive market segment would remain vacant for so long. I used to live right near that former Star Market and my rinky-dink condo is now worth nearly 4x what it sold for in 2008.

Mixed Use (40B Fmr Star Market) | 299 Broadway | Winter Hill | Somerville

Appreciate the new renders and this is (of course) better than the vacant lot that's been there for going on 20 years, but when I talked to someone allegedly working on the project last fall I was told they were breaking ground this coming spring. Now they "expect" to get going sometime this...

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Enthusiastic agree. Anyone thinking otherwise is downright “moronic” (heya @curcuas!)

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Proof that it can be done correctly. Boston should demand much more from developers, particularly in spots such as this.

bigtime Burlington office-park vibes that's super incongruous with everything else around it. even the WHOOP building is better.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I use the GLX daily. It's amazing. I'm not discounting critiques; I am saying that, big picture, all of these stations and the extended reach of light rail is huge. I love it.

    Old Colony phase 4, 5, & 6 | 72-110 Mercer street | South Boston

That is very pretty, you're right. I suspect that if I lean too far into my "side" of the conversation so far, I'll lose touch with objective good/bad of the situation(s) being discussed. I'd wager a realistic assessment might argue that, thusfar, we've both been a little too dogmatic. Boston...

    Old Colony phase 4, 5, & 6 | 72-110 Mercer street | South Boston

Connoisseur need not be equivalent to snob. I, too, think it'd be just swell if every new building was hand-laid brick and featured fine detail-work, solid materials, and represent elegant and/or adventurous design. There were workers' huts and farms mere yards away from the Parthenon was it...

    Old Colony phase 4, 5, & 6 | 72-110 Mercer street | South Boston

And the triple-deckers that remain in most non-CBD areas of metro Boston were only estimated to have a lifespan of 50 or so years. Not everything can be built with the highest-cost and highest quality materials and this fact has been true since... forever. Plenty of "our city" is being built...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

You make it sound like they'll ultimately slash initial asking price in half. They won't. This will be a desirable spot and the units will be very expensive, whatever the ultimate pricing.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I was at S Station this morning—objectively a very cold one — and the actual station was plenty warm. The outdoor track area was cold, sure, but it’s, y’know… OUTSIDE. Not a big surprise or a big deal.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

It's clearly a "nice weather" amenity and of COURSE potential litigation and liability plays a role. FWIW the last three(!) times I was in NYC, the "Red Steps" in Times Square were blocked/closed to the public. For the exact same reaons. "Occasionally, you may arrive at Times Square and find...
