South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

You expect maintenance and *cleaning* anywhere near a T (or, really, any U.S. public transport) station!?!?

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Lots of renders to answer your question here.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XVIII (2024)

It is fun, yeah. They've been uplighting it like that for a few years.

Glad folks like it. Could've been so much better, (the tower, itself, and this... connector/grand hall/whatever the *&% they call it this month), but I will stop being a wet blanket.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Scroll up/back to see my pix from "The Connector" mid-day, during the work week a month ago. Nobody was there and nobody ever is there b/c that space is for nobody, but workers in the floors above. It's pretty enough for a lobby in a high-rise, yes. It is also not what it ought to have been. or...

    An Ode to Trophy Row

Stuff like that makes a town unique and fun. "Cleaning up" something that had no negative impact on the area, traffic, the environment, etc. is an absolute net negative for the city. What a shame.

West Cambridge / Alewife Area Infill & Small Developments

Arlington NIMBYs are next-level. Or at least they were when I was a very tiny kid. I recall the hue and cry (before my time, but still talked about) re: the plan to have the Red Line extend into Arlington Ctr. and then Arlington Heights and even to Lexington (they didn't care about that last...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

While we get our fair share of bait and switch nonsense, I think this one is a safe bet in that literally every “official” dusk and nighttime render has shown the lit crown. And there are a lot of them.

    Hull infill and small developments

Hull is awesome. Very cool and, while I don't know about underrated, certainly less trafficked than some other beach/waterfront destinations (which suits me just fine). It is also very much more underwater than "most places in eastern mass": from 2018 (yes, more homes in Quincy are at risk than...

    Hull infill and small developments

Given that 85% of Hull is already underwater whenever it rains for more than 20 minutes at a time, this project is remarkably optimistic/bold.

One Post Office Square Makeover and Expansion | Financial District

Generally I feel like the red bracing is the only standout feature of this re-clad, but this angle is somehow strangely very visually pleasing.

    "Dirty Old Boston"

The bottom ribbons of the bow extend halfway down the ground-level of the Grain Exhange building. When you're walking around, it's really pretty diffcult to *not* notice it (unless you're truly glued to your smartphone 100% of the time).

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

Post #311 in 2020 was the first in this thread to predict CarGurus imminent demise.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

Looks very "outskirts of London" -- not in a bad way.

    AI Redraws Boston

Well, the algorithm go the squat and boxy aesthetic down right. Not sure why the JHT got (literally) shortchanged so much in terms of height.
