...Wasn't this known BNRD would do this?

    Quincy General Developments

If I was a developer I'd steer clear of Quincy. Between the way the city government operates and how development goes, not a great place to put some money in.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

$200 million for that scope of work seems intense. Better be some nice bridges by the end of it.

Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

It has been discussed - reading the community meeting notes, there are some promising remarks from the Developer. I believe the lab "proposal" was the previous proposal that, based on the community meeting notes, has been thrown in the trash.

    Boston and the Homeless

Half-joking: Boston annexes Quincy/Squantum and re-builds the bridge to Long Island, or runs a ferry. The bridge was closed 10 years ago at this point.

    Patriot Place | Foxboro

It's a pretty disappointing looking facility design wise, especially considering that Populous is behind it...

    Lowell Infill and Small Developments

I can't imagine how this is going to fare for the Mill No. 5 businesses. Moving elsewhere in Lowell is going to bring significant costs, and they recently expanded the second floor, which likely cost a pretty penny, all for these newer small businesses to be sent out a few months later. They...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I see a lot of light gauge metal framing beyond the glass, so there will likely be a wall set back from the glazing, creating a more opaque crown. The framing doesn't go the whole way up yet, so stay tuned I suppose...

Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

I don't want to get too far into the details here, because we will get them soon enough, but it appears there's at least a 7-story section of the building, as there is sky peaking through at the top corner of the rendering. That implies a taller narrow section, potentially the part that...

This project and thread just keeps getting more depressing :/

Downtown/Financial district infill and small developments

This being next to the thought experiment posted on here a few years back, along with a nice Pi Alley Parking Garage redevelopment, would make this little corner an urban gem. https://archboston.com/community/threads/residential-tower-26-court-st-government-center.5671/

    Dana-Farber Cancer Center | 1 Joslin Place | Longwood

I have faith in the facade, this is designed by Payette.

Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

I can only wish. With community feedback I legitimately hope they stay above 100 units. Without any indication from the developer, a resident was already decrying a 33-story tower (no official height or number of stories has been provided yet). Davis is ridiculously NIMBY.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XVIII (2024)

I was going to say, that's a really striking angle for how much space is taken up by cars on Newbury. While I don't walk Newbury often, when I am there, its sidewalks are crammed and people are walking so slow they could be going backwards. I'd definitely welcome some more space for pedestrians.

    MBTA Construction Projects

Is that a new deck? The concrete looks quite aged at the end. Is that exposed rebar ends also? That's also a pretty unconventional connection detail between steel and concrete, no?

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

I was not aware this had been fully developed.... time really slipped away from me here considering the dates on these.... Regarding the building design, that is Miller Dyer Spears (and looks pretty typical/good for them). I believe the setup here was Sasaki would be undertaking the planning...

Ragon Institute | 624 Main Street | Kendall Square

I don't think this has been posted, but this is the effort and craft of design I would appreciate in every lab building we build moving forward: https://www.payette.com/fabrication/fabrication-feature-ragon-2-0-sun-shading-models/

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

The plans developed in the early design phases had pretty heavy emphasis on keeping most of the building. I have to imagine that was pretty costly, and unfortunately we are ending up with mostly new construction. The good news is that's a preliminary massing, so expect more to come.

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

This is a little much to implement on a state agency for a private development project with large impacts. It would make more sense to have the developer fund and procure a planning team and design. MBTA may have resources in place to pull from, but typically funding availability, public agency...
