    General Boston Discussion

Companies are still hiring and fighting over talent and making a profit. People are still employed and salary is still growing but not at the rate of inflation. As such, while inflation is bad, people still have disposable income. From a real estate perspective, remote working has allowed people...

    General Boston Discussion

This isn't a Boston only thing. NYC, Seattle, Los Angeles, SF, Miami are all undergoing major building booms. Arguably, Boston's boom is the smallest of the above list. People are still being hired and being employed. Their salary might not be keeping up with the inflation but there is still...

I don't think that's a half-measure at all. Ban private auto/truck traffic, but allow buses to traverse at a certain speed limit. Denver runs a Mall bus down it's Downtown pedestrian area and it works great.

You do know that newspaper is a business and they need to make money to pay their workers right? This type of complaining is ridiculous

New Red and Orange Line Cars

In addition to what's already stated above, since the MBTA contract, CRRC has also won contracts with the LA Metro and the CTA. Pre-pandemic, they were probably on track to ramp up hiring and supply chain to accommodate them but now they have to proportion out scarce resource to fill the demand...

That's new apartments in the city in general. The list I posted is within the city's downtown. It's in response to bigpicture7 post that highlight Boston should bring more apartment in downtown

In a recent study, Boston didn't even crack the top 20 in new apartments built in downtown since 2013. I'm a bit skeptical of the list that Manhattan and Seattle aren't on the list and Baltimore is. If accurate, Boston needs to do way more...

For sure, distance definitely belies convenience. I can get to Chicago's Midway from downtown Chicago during rush hour on the Orange Line in about the same time as it takes me to get from downtown Boston to Logan Airport on the Silver Line (approx. 30 minutes). And Midway is 3x further than...

If you were to measure the distance by the closest tall building to a runway, Vegas is even closer, about 4 city blocks or about 4000 ft away from Mandalay Bay and an active runway

Fair enough but I believe community protest triumphed over political will which doomed the bid in the first place so I have doubts on that too

Not unaware but the MBTA wouldn't have been competent enough to build it by the deadline. You're kidding yourself if you think they would

Nah glass isn't the problem. Dull designs and lack of innovations are. I'll take more glass State Street Towers (referring to the boldness) any day

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I'm not saying that it isn't a moronic statement but transportation improvement without some legislature that prevents rents from increasing in the communities that are benefitting from the improvement will lead to people of color and long term residents being kicked out. Access to public...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Ok yeah I think it is time to throw the whole MBTA away. And by that, I mean shut down each line in sequence for a complete overhaul

I think there is still a need to have the surface parking lot given that it is significantly closer to the train station and thus, more accessible for anyone disabled

Likely second closest behind San Diego but the point stands nevertheless. (Las Vegas could be closer depending on whether you count the Strip as a CBD)
