I think I have figured out what bothers me the most about the rebranding. I really dislike the combined AB. I understand it was intentional but it makes the Museum seem smaller and more regional rather than global. The MET, The Louvre, The V&A*, The Art Institute, The MFA. People who are even...

They could open a museum of loaned objects, but I imagine they would want their own permanent collection as well, which wouldn't be impossible but not easy either. I would love to see it happen either way.

I've thought about that a lot. The problem is that most of the 'good stuff' is already in the hands of the MFA, Historic Boston or the state archive. It would have to be a collaborative effort between them and I could see that being tough to pull off.

There have been a lot good murals here but this is one of my favorites. Just a great use of the space.

I'm confused. I'm glad they are working on this agaain but it doesn't seem like any of this work addresses the structural issues that caused the shut down in the first place. Or maybe I'm not understanding it correctly?

True, but I was referring mostly to the arches themselves. If I recall correctly, the original plan for Winthrop Sq was a grand monumental space like this, but they seem to have shifted to more of an 'oversized corporate lobby' model. To be fair though, niether is completed yet.

I love this. I wish they put this much effort into the ground floor at Winthrop Sq.
