Definitely. And Amtrak’s dynamic pricing often means fares are $5-10 each way on the sub 40 minute ride. I still wouldn’t love to do it daily (especially coming from Eastie where my commute is 15 minutes door to door), but that’s better than many MA commuter rail trips.

I think Providence has always been just too far for the vast majority of Boston workers. That's a rough 5 day/week commute. What's really changed is that there's been an explosion of remote work and hybrid work which makes Providence an option for people who might have otherwise ruled it out if...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Definitely true for most air travel - I've rarely encountered an OTA offering a better price than direct with the airline and they're not equipped to help when things don't go as planned. I've worked on the hotel side of things, and I'd offer the same advice for lodging as well. While hotel...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

More regional and less Logan, but Breeze is apparently hemorrhaging money. I've had some questions about their business model (especially the quick adds and cuts to routes), but this looks bad. I realize they're still newish, and that it takes time to turn a profit, but they're burning through...

    Providence developments

They need a waiver for the requirement for the 25 foot construction setback from the seawall. Based on what I can see in the renderings, the new proposal has a landscaped setback between the walkway and the building itself. I'm not sure if it's 25 feet, but it's clearly a setback. The older...

Potential Exelon Mystic Station Redevelopment | Everett

I realize this is off-topic, but every game I've been to in the last several years (going back to 2018 or 19) has been the result of the secondary market's dynamic pricing. I use TickPick in particular (the displayed prices include taxes/fees, so you know the bottom line from the start). It's...

East Boston Infill and Small Developments

It feels connected - just a whole lot less established. For Me, the sod line (where new meets old) and the trees are the biggest differentiators. The walkways in Piers Park II are blacktop whereas I are brick and that’s noticeable, but not enough to make it feel like they’re not connected. It...

    Plymouth infill and developments

The Pinehills is really its own self-contained entity and often referred to as such. I don't view "walkable to the town center" as intentionally misleading or cause for confusion for most. As you said, the development has its own "town center" and I think it's pretty clear that this written...

    Providence & RI Infrastructure

Did I miss the "mile away" part? The article says, "a young engineer working on the demolition of an old bridge deck happened to look over at the adjacent westbound bridge and thought, “That doesn’t look right.” This bridge is two separate spans, so it reads to me like this engineer was on the...

    Providence developments

This will be a win for the space, though the additional floor and 8 units would have been better. I actually appreciate the Projo's tone re: the height reduction: Renderings from the May meeting show the taller building would still be shorter than the main roofline of the the church, much...

    New Bedford Developments

Actually, good stuff. It's interesting that the developers see the $2-3k range as a new market - people who would have bought in the 2010s, but can't quite afford the $3k mortgage they'd likely be saddled with if buying in today's market with today's interest rates. I guess that makes sense. I...

    Providence developments

It's generic, but not out of context. The home on the property is nice enough, but probably not worthy of putting up a fight for.

East Boston Infill and Small Developments

I like this project a lot. I didn't love that it replaced a restaurant, but this is going to be a major improvement to this corner. If a developer ever decided to build urban on the Shaw's and the strip mall properties across the street from this, the square could be a nicely framed urban space.

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

It's unfortunate, but it's hard to convince people to ditch the car living in a city/region that has been developing around the car for nearly 80 years. Especially when the transit options are so limited, walkability is a mixed bag, and many of the basic needs aren't within walking distance. I...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

The signs pointing to E13-16 and E1-12 are great, and will probably be very noticeable from the new security checkpoint which appears to be where this was taken from. However, coming from the old checkpoint, I didn't even notice this in person.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

I think Stlin is right, but LIS is a weird place to prove the point that you're not a low-cost/leisure airline. The growth at LIS is largely due to the increased popularity of Portugal as a leisure destination (that, and TAP's efforts to make LIS a hub for travel between North America/Europe and...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

Does Connecticut offer a lot of incentives to airlines to fly out of BDL? They seem to get some surprising routes. In 2021, I flew nonstop on JetBlue from BDL to CUN. It was like $500 less than a connecting flight out of BOS, and it was surprising they had the route in the first place. The Aer...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

TW - Crazy Transit Pitch: It'd never, ever, ever, EVER happen for a multitude of reasons, but Sim City god-mode part of me would love to see an airport built built on fill in the middle of Boston Harbor (leveling and connecting several of the Harbor Islands) in conjunction with a flood barrier...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

I would imagine JetBlue is going to continue the approach of trying to compete in markets already served out of BOS rather than trying to launch service to a new market. I'm not saying it's the best approach, but it seems to be what they're doing.
