Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

Obviously the pandemic is a big part of it; they launched Market Basket in 2020 IIRC, and trying to push ahead in that climate when one of your biggest attractions was/is going to be a beer hall just wasn't going to be conducive to anything. And now, what's the market for a 6-story building...

Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

They also make the point that this building will have a Portland address (since it's just east of the city limits). I'm not sure what that gets them aside from higher taxes, but whatever. From their Instagram post:

Roux Institute Campus Development | Portland

Hard tellin', not knowin'. Seriously, whether Maine Yacht sells depends on their business. They have a pretty nice spot, complete with (at this point) dedicated rail access to get to their off-season storage facility. I have a hard time imagining Roux getting pushy with the neighborhood folks...

    USM | Portland

Just to be pedantic about this: Taylor and her crew had filmed a music video in Kennebunk(port?), at the church the Bush's used to attend. They arrived at Becky's shortly after 10pm closing, begging to be fed since that was the only place that even still had its lights on. Becky, quite sensibly...

    Thompson's Point, Portland

Is the hotel at the Hub on Causeway a Citizen M? Because I noticed that they have a neat trick to not attract families with kids: all the rooms are 1 King.

Infill and Small Developments | Portland

The Gold seats courtside and on the ends, and the 8 boxes (labeled "Suites"), are sold as premium seating, They get waitress service and I'm not sure what else (the "suites" do get an actual table to sit at). Note that the wheelchair seats are behind both the premium boxes and the walkway and...

Infill and Small Developments | Portland

Did they have a plan to replace the seating provided by 315 (the former bleacher section in that spot), or are they just going to go with the reduced capacity?

Portland Foreside | 58 Fore Street | Portland

Per the Press Herald article, the project entails shifting the tracks and the path closer to the shore. The railroad contractor doesn't want to relay the tracks until April, presumably after the thaw, hence the extended delay. Those of us who frequent railroad.net are undoubtedly aware that any...

    Portland Passenger Rail

It bugs me that my subscription to the Press Herald doesn't include digital access to their other properties (LSJ and the two Kennebec County papers, not that the latter two are particularly distinct anymore).

Portland Music Hall | Cumberland Avenue

I don't object to the music hall per se, but does it have to be this ugly? Granted, the MGM is directly attached to what might be the most iconic structure in New England so it had to set a high standard, but still... this looks like it's designed to "fit into the neighborhood" where the...

    General Portland Discussion

It could also be a sign that the Portland subreddit is full of raving Communist agitators and the reasonable people come here for mature discourse :D

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

The only Rosemont location I regularly go by is the Morrill's Corner one in the old Plywood Ranch building, and that's a warehouse / commissary / bakery, not an actual retail location. But, I do think they should rename the "Rosemont Brighton Ave." store as "Rosemont Rosemont".

    General Portland Discussion

I'll go with: Any indication that Portland Foreside isn't stalled indefinitely (I'm not convinced whatever is happening there right now isn't just busywork to keep Turner engaged) Vertical steel on Roux Plans for Rock Row Phase II (the cool stuff) hitting the Westbrook Planning Board Resolution...

Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

Interesting question. The thing there is, the hall at Rock Row is supposed to be a component of a convention center facility, and it'll also have the ability to be open-air (by opening the exterior doors). So it's interesting to consider what's happening with both, and what Live Nation is...

    Thompson's Point, Portland

I recall that the original plan called for a garage where the graphic says "Interim Parking Lots 14-15"; that was going to be shared with the train station, and also used for the arena where the beer warehouse ("Light Industrial") is now. I do wonder, what NNEPRA would be thinking now, if they...

Portland Music Hall | Cumberland Avenue

I know if you look up at the ceiling of the Merrill, the paint looks as bad as it did before the massive renovation. Granted, I have no idea what it would take to repaint it giving the height, but it still looks bad. I have no insight on the loading dock (and my memories of the Congress St. area...
