BHA Charlestown/Bunker Hill Redevelopment | Charlestown

Data, I wonder if some of the blocks are not big enough to support building on all four sides. If the developer wants the structure wide enough to double stack all four sides he may end up with postage stamp courtyards inside.

The Boulevard (née The Times/Littlest Bar) | 110 Broad St | Downtown

Why rush to demo this building if your not remotely prepared to start construction? Seems like a rush to spend money without improving the schedule.

Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett Remember when they opened those casinos in Gary, IN and half the bars and restaurants in Chicago closed? That was tough.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Great pic Dirty Water. I love that view of MT. Reminds me of the super narrow look the Hancock gives from parts of Memorial Drive. I always thought JHT looked like a glass silo from that view. P.S. Is Google doing bike paths now? What is this contraption they're driving?

[ARCHIVED] Harbor Garage Redevelopment | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

I wish I was still in HS. I'd make this my yearbook quote. P.S. Do they still have yearbooks?

Pier 4 Office Building | 140 Northern Ave | Seaport

Re: Pier 4 Office Tower | 140 Northern Ave | Seaport Just looking at one picture I saw uncapped rebar, trip hazards, and fall hazards with gaps in the fall protection.

A great reclaimed lumber place is Long Leaf over by Fresh Pond. They've got a small showroom if you're ever in the area with some time to kill.

    MIT.nano | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Working on an MIT project right now. My experience: 1. They're VERY conservative. To be expected I guess from a University run by Engineers. 2. They're cheap. Which is in direct conflict with their conservatism.

    Boston College Master Plan

Why would they block the balconies? It was largely students living there under the previous owner.

Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

Build parking lot parcels + no pike build + dramatically reduce the chances of the air rights being developed < nothing (in the short term).

Proto | 88 Ames St | Kendall Square | Cambridge

Re: Ames Street Residence | 88 Ames Str. - Kendall Sq. | Cambridge No! This is a brutalist masterpiece. It's buildings like these that make Boston and Cambridge so great. I'm so disgusted with the City of Cambridge. There are parking lots all over the place that we should develop before we...

The Smith | 660 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Leggat McCall proposal | Between Harrison Ave and Albany St | South End That's frustrating. The 19 story building was on the highway side. And it would have created a nice precedent for the Flower Exchange redevelopment.

    121 Seaport Boulevard | Parcel L2 | Seaport Square

Anyone have any insight as to why they'd choose top down (very expensive) here? In my experience it's usually limited to really dense, compact sites.

The Boulevard (née The Times/Littlest Bar) | 110 Broad St | Downtown

This! People need to stop freaking out anytime load bearing masonry is pulled down. Much of what is being demolished was a firewall prior to the central artery. The important portions of the facade are being preserved. You can't have cheaper housing and a growing population and a dynamic...

Lovejoy Wharf | 131 Beverly Street | West End

^Agree. The space is an incredible improvement. This is how we should be doing waterfront development. Stick n move: I went to the "flagship store" because I wanted to support it a couple weeks ago and asked for some shoes to try on and they told me to "try the Newbury Street store" because...

    Grand Prix of Boston

There's no "rubber stamp." That went away with the days of corruption. Now you need wetland scientists, LSPs, etc. You want a ConComm "rubber stamp" go to Florida. And it doesn't cost money to file an appeal. It costs money to win an appeal. A relatively educated person can file an appeal that...
