Data, I wonder if some of the blocks are not big enough to support building on all four sides. If the developer wants the structure wide enough to double stack all four sides he may end up with postage stamp courtyards inside.

Why rush to demo this building if your not remotely prepared to start construction? Seems like a rush to spend money without improving the schedule.

A great reclaimed lumber place is Long Leaf over by Fresh Pond. They've got a small showroom if you're ever in the area with some time to kill.

Working on an MIT project right now. My experience: 1. They're VERY conservative. To be expected I guess from a University run by Engineers. 2. They're cheap. Which is in direct conflict with their conservatism.

Why would they block the balconies? It was largely students living there under the previous owner.

Build parking lot parcels + no pike build + dramatically reduce the chances of the air rights being developed < nothing (in the short term).

This! People need to stop freaking out anytime load bearing masonry is pulled down. Much of what is being demolished was a firewall prior to the central artery. The important portions of the facade are being preserved. You can't have cheaper housing and a growing population and a dynamic...
