Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 Thanks for the link to the article. I almost always enjoy Krugman. You mention LA, SF, New York, DC and Boston taking longer to build. Isn't that because we have more leverage. When an energy company or a financial...

General Electric HQ (Necco Buildings Reno) | 5 Necco Street | Fort Point

Re: General Electric HQ | Necco St.| Fort Point That's an access building for the tunnel. You couldn't put a helipad on there (because it's not as big as it looks and because I think it provides emergency egress).

    The New Retail Thread

Outside of malls I think all Chick-fil-a's are company owned.

How about 100 Federal Street? Constructed 1968-1970.

The Harlo (née Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King))| 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway I was just thinking the exact same thing.

General Electric HQ (Necco Buildings Reno) | 5 Necco Street | Fort Point

Re: General Electric HQ | Necco St.| Fort Point Yes. It's been falling apart for a long time. A couple years ago we priced some work to basically box it up for Gillette to prevent someone from getting killed by falling debris. I don't think they ever did anything though.

The St Regis Residences (former Whiskey Priest site) | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Re: Whiskey Priest/Atlantic Beer Garden Redevelopment | 150 Seaport Blvd | Seaport Can anyone provide insight into when/why buildings are allowed to cantilever over sidewalks? I noticed recently that a new development on West First Street in Southie hangs over the sidewalk nearly to the curb...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Whig, actually the City of Glass was a celebrated novel by Cassandra Clare in 2012. Picking up from City of Ashes, City of Glass begins a few days after Clary and Simon's awkward break-up. With the permission of the Clave and Alicante, Magnus Bane creates a portal to send the Lightwoods...

The Benjamin & VIA (née One Seaport Square) | Parcels B-C@Seaport Sq. | Seaport

Re: One Seaport Square | Parcels B-C@Seaport Sq. | Seaport Yes. At least one is (the one that goes on the Northern Side of Seaport Blvd near Thomson Place extended).

    MCCA Hotels: Aloft & Element | 371-401 D Street | South Boston

For any beer snobs out there: the little package store that opened next to the hotels has an excellent beer selection.

Forecaster Building Addition |121-127 Portland Street | West End

So I found out some of the back story on this building. Apparently the former GC was in way over his head so the Pizzutti's fired him and hired Consigli. That explains why there was very slow progress, then no progress, and now alot of progress.

Boston Properties Office Tower | 888 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Toby it's not just his posts. It's the repeated derailments his posts cause. But you're right, no one should be bullied on an architecture forum.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Re: The Boston Garden (TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End The BBJ article sites the office tower as 21 stories and 440' tall. That doesn't make sense. Am I missing something?

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

There's a new substation being built next to Harpoon (though this will mostly serve Seaport, not traditional southie). It will be connected to the K Street substation. New 115kV transmission lines connecting the K Street and Dewar Street substations will be completed next month. Southie had...

    Real Estate Deals

If someone put down a deposit and bought their unit prior to the building being completed (or even in the preconstruction phase) of course they got a cheaper price. And of course they're entitled to resell it once the construction risk is gone and someone else is willing to pay more for it.

    Silver Line to Chelsea

This project adds to the MBTA infrastructure, but it was partially funded and managed by MassDOT. So, for example, the owner's field office has space for both MassDOT and MBTA, but the MBTA doesn't really have a full time presence. DOT is calling the shots. I believe GLX was managed by the...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

The Washington Street bridge is paved and ready to be opened. The incentive in the contract maxes out in March, 2016. So the contractor beat the best expectation of the DOT by 3 months. This is why MBTA projects should be administered by the DOT from now on.
