    Green Line Type 10 Procurement

I really like the new info boards being included on the grab rails, but are there any concerns of vandalism or these screens getting beat up pretty quickly? Apologies if this was discussed up thread already.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Maybe, guess we will wait an see. I think if they were going to be fully enclosed like the levels below, then the curtain wall mullions would've have been aligned like they are on the levels that have been enclosed. Instead, we are seeing just the slab edge treated creating that misalginment...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I really like those last two photos that show the transition from fully enclosed space to partially enclosed balconies and then traditional balconies. Nice architectural detail.

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

I was thinking the same thing when I first saw that, but then when I looked at the street alignments - specifically the angle - makes me understand it a bit more. I don't like it in principle, but the radius for the turn would've had to pretty large to make turning feasible.

Alewife T Station, Garage, Bus, & Trails

Cool. I hope they make it work and make it cost efficient. I am one though that will always critique projects like this. We should always be willing to look critically at things for improvement. I am a firm believer that with these long range plans, we should always be willing to critique things...

Alewife T Station, Garage, Bus, & Trails

Thanks for this info! So based on previous studies, would a station/park & ride go on top of the old tank farm? Can't imagine it would be cost effective to fill in one of those quarry ponds. It appears that the southern end of the tank farm is considered wetlands and the old location of the tank...

Alewife T Station, Garage, Bus, & Trails

I initially thought of this land as well. but most of it is marshland and would be so prohibitively expensive for the MBTA to build on that land. That's how I ultimately ended up on the east of 95/128. Looking at the aerial, the MBTA would have to assess the wetlands (BLUE) and presumably an...

Alewife T Station, Garage, Bus, & Trails

Littleton was specifically a discussion point during their study of existing parking and how a phased demolition of the garage could/would work for commuters along the line. With it's direct adjacency to 495 and Route 2, this makes the most sense to try and capture Route 2 commuters outside of...

Alewife T Station, Garage, Bus, & Trails

I don't think we will see a 1-to-1 replacement of parking with the redevelopment of the Alewife garage. There will still be a significant amount of parking, but I do believe the parking will be more "right-sized" than the current garage. Hopefully with a possible commuter rail station, this...

    The New Residential Conversion Thread

Beantown Pub is such a staple, and hopefully it does remain. Had my first date with my wife there and have an amazing photo of it framed in my house here in Nashville. Really hope it sticks around

West Cambridge / Alewife Area Infill & Small Developments

I participated in the Alewife Garage Redevelopment Industry day (thanks to this forum pushing the information out to all), and officials from Cambridge's Planning Department were present and spoke about how the redevelopment of the garage will allow an opening to examine the zoning policies for...

Roads and Highways General Development Thread

There are already so many traffic signals along Route 9 between 495 and 95/128, adding one more is NOT going to hurt/kill anyone's commute. Let's look at the pros/cons of grounding as I showed.... Pros Minimizes the amount of pedestrian/shared use conflict points Eliminates ALL overpasses...

Roads and Highways General Development Thread

Wow! Talk about a collasel waste of money. I love the dedicated path for people, but I feel like this is a vast waste of land and resources. Here is a somewhat radical (to MassDOT at least) idea. The first signal going east is 1.16 miles away. The first signal going west is 1.4 miles. Add a...

Wentworth Institute of Technology | Institutional masterplan

Overall it looks great! The only thing I question is the addition onto the front of Wentworth Hall Something about it (and I understand it is more a vision plan than design) just feels clunky/off. Can't quite put my finger on it.

L Street Station Redevelopment (née Old Edison Plant)| 776 Summer Street | South Boston

Super happy the restriction is gone. Just a little mind blown/frustrated it was a $12 million price tag to make it go away.

    Fenway Infill and Small Developments

Is there new/changed regulations within the city? Could someone point me to possibly a discussion on the board or possibly an article about this? Thanks in advance!

South End Infill and Small Developments

Transitional zoning would make total sense here. The phase 1 above could be your height location (maybe a developer also grabs that parking lot at Herald Street), and then transition down to heights of Dwight Street and beyond.

South End Infill and Small Developments

The circles area is Castle Court. Is this subsidized housing? I feel like this is ripe for redevelopment. If it is affordable housing I would caveat my redevelopment comment with a 1 to 1.5 replacement The buildings themselves don't look that bad, but it seems like they are outdated and with...

Whittier Choice Neighborhood | 1158 Tremont Street | Roxbury

It would be required to be of "noncombustible" materials for the most part. If I had to guess they utilized a prefabricated metal framing system (such as the late Presceint company) in which the wall panels are loading bearing. This is in Nashville, but the metal framing was utilized above a...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

Geodis Park is the largest, soccer-specific stadium (at least when it was completed) in the US. It also has some great technology integrated to ensure that its primary tenant (soccer) puts out a great product. The ownership group was also gifted a 99-year ground lease of 10 acres of land around...
