South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower - Full Steam Ahead! I do not think this project is ready for the start of construction in 1st quarter 2008 (maybe 2nd quarter). And I am not trying to be picky. From my understanding and knowledge the design is not 100% complete (and when I say design I mean more than...

    Auto-free city?

To expand your idea above how about this: Construct rail ways down the center of all major highways and routes in and around Boston (i.e. 93 N-S, 90 E-W, Rt-9, Rt-2, and Rt-3). It could be mono-rail, commuter rail, or something like the orange and red line. I wouldn?t oppose losing 1 or 2 lanes...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

It appears Bailey does not believe in "Build it and they will come" theory. He talks about demand; is he waiting for a day when all the office buldings in Boston are at 100% capacity and people are saying "Hey now we should develop another building"? The is not going to happen!!

    Northeastern eyes dorms

^^I understand the point of your post, but you do you think all the changes you have described were welcomed or well accepted by their residents? Some of the opinions of this thread are probably similar to the opinions ranted back in the early 1900?s (good or bad). As you describe in your post...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link Why isn?t Amtrak more involved? Don?t they benefit from this link too (even more than local commuters)? Maybe the MBTA is not pushing hard for this project, because it is a potential lost on the revenue stream; not as many people changing trains and paying fares at...

I guess I kind of got emotional? Melnea Cass should be developed for non-privatized (if that is a word, or just public) use. IMO, the area should be developed with residential, restaurants or even government facilities (yeah I wrote it, I would rather see a government facility than a college...

^^Not every university needs to be the next Ohio State. They can better utilize the space they have in their vicinity. I do not see a reason for them to travel down Melnea Cass. The have the air rights over the train tracks and I believe they are still in negotiation for the baseball field and...

I get it now? I finally see what NU has done. Every time I drive by this building I can?t believe how big it is compared to the other buildings surrounding it. But now I understand why; they are showing the surrounding community that NU is growing and taking over. That building is their fortress.

    MBTA Construction Projects

Re: T construction news Oh hell no... I do not want the Silver Line anywhere close to my neighbor hood. That crap of transportation is not even suitable for the route it takes now (expect between South Station and the Airport). I guess I will write a letter to my local rep and see what their...

    MBTA Construction Projects

Re: T construction news I wrote a letter to the MBTA about a couple of years ago, regarding improved transit around Blue Hill Ave (in Boston, specifically Dorchester). I used to take the #28 and the bus was always crowded and this was 5:30am. If there is anyone who uses this site and rides the...

When I attended NU (and prior to that) I knew of students (mostly not from the city) that did not like using Ruggles. If they had to cross the other side they would rather cross at the Columbus Lot Parking Garage or Lot (no matter what). If they had to go downtown they would rather use the green...

The Economics of Building in Boston, Part 2

Developments like this will not ease traffic. I believe traffic would be a problem, if the majority of these towns accepted their major development projects. A real example of place where their suburb is very commercially developed is, Washington D.C. The traffic down there is unreal. I believe...

    Last stop Wonderland

I do not know if this exist, but it could be something exciting and different for the Revere or Suffolk down Area: A Casino with an inside Race track (for with either dogs or horses). I would go to see something like that!!

I did not realize how big this building was going to be. Even though it is not finished, it looks great driving down Columbus Ave/Tremont St, just from the shear presence of the building. Could this type of development spur high-rises further down Columbus Ave towards Roxbury Crossing and...

Radian (Dainty Dot) | 120 Kingston Street | Chinatown

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown I like the first design and the new design. I rather see the first design get built. The first design would have added something different and impressive to the high-rise scene.

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

That article makes Shirley's point to a certain extent. That article shows that the multipliers can overstate the new job growth or underestimate the number. If the creation of jobs factor is being used to allocate more money from the city, then the number should be scrutinized. Also, what...

    Harvard - Allston Campus

If the alston/brighton community is ?concerned? regarding Harvard?s proposed development and the South End community is apprehensive regarding the Columbus Center Project (I know I am tying two separate projects together, but follow me...
