South Boston Infill and Small Developments

While this thread was bumped I wanted to ask if there is anything in the pipeline for the gulf station on broadway and A. I find Southie to have a bunch of "blockers" inbetween the T stop on the real part of the neighborhood. I think the gulf station is the #1 offender given its proximity to the...

    Biking in Boston

The comm Ave reconstruction phase 2 project with real protected bike lanes has finally broken ground. 3 years of construction for this project. http://www.bostonherald.com/business/real_estate/2016/10/comm_ave_bike_lanes_next_phase_gets_in_gear (sorry for the herald link)

    General Infrastructure

While coming back from Logan today, I saw the progress on the tollbooth demolition. Allston had about 10 excavators lined up ready to go but no physical progress yet. Weston was flying. I was shocked to see them already paving near liberty mutual. Also the middle toll booths are already...

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Really solid development that has gone under the radar compared to the office tower, 1D, hub on causeway, ect. I'm really excited for this project. We are starting to breathe life into a deadzone. I always mentally think of the Bulfinch triangle being much further away from Haymarket/markets...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

The 773 can use them too. I have experience on the product development side at Boeing/Airbus so I can add a bit of color. Planes are only going to have wider wingspans going forward. Look at the 777x and the dreamliner, the wings are absolutely massive compared to the fuselage. This trend will...

The Benjamin & VIA (née One Seaport Square) | Parcels B-C@Seaport Sq. | Seaport

Re: One Seaport Square | Parcels B-C@Seaport Sq. | Seaport Bringing this back to the actual development, I glad they didn't VE the slightly more interesting design on parcel C. The orange stripe and white boxes are going to add color! This will help reduce the image of Seaport being a sea of...

Any shot that Somerville coordinates with Camridge and extends the protected lane to the squre?

The Ipswich | 2 Charlesgate West | Fenway

Re: 2 Charlesgate West Wouldn't the only game that this tower would cast a shadow for be patriots day? The tower is to the east of Fenway. The sun sets in the west. The only time of day that a shadow would be anywhere near the park would be before noon. Another potential issue is the view. But...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

This whole conversation outlines why seaport square parcel M needs to break ground ASAP. Renders: http://www.archboston.org/community/showpost.php?p=241375&postcount=1 Some of the pros of it: - would eliminate the plateau affect given its three towers a many smaller buildings - add different...

The Ipswich | 2 Charlesgate West | Fenway

Re: 2 Charlesgate West great project. I've always felt that the Fenway neighborhood feels very isolated. This project would help bridge that gap well. I like it flows well with Van Ness and Copley Not to derail the thread on post #4, but this is a perfect example of how Boston is not running...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Top administration members represent the governor, not themselves. She is an extension of Baker. While she may have input in the process, you better believe that her messaging will be consistent with Baker. I cannot stress the importance of having a unified administration. Baker is to blame for...

UMass Boston Developments | Columbia Point | Dorchester

The Amherst campus is doing a good job avoiding the mistakes they made in the last cycle - from the capital plan. I'm not sure if umb is doing this too

UMass Boston Developments | Columbia Point | Dorchester

UMass Boston held its annual community update just over a week ago. A bit of background - UMB was largely built in the 1970s and little has been done to keep it in a good shape. The UMass system as a whole has a $3 billion dollar state of good repair backlog. The master plan looks to tear down...

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

Both of these would be huge improvements. Have they released any plans for either of these? timeline? My biggest complaint about the new bike infra is that they are not creating a network, they are creating random stretches that mostly do not connect well (Alewife being the notable exception)

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I guess one nice thing about having very little bus infrastructure (bus lanes, signal priority, real bus shelters, ect) is that the routes can be more easily changed. I think the best thing that they are doing is talking to Houston and other cities that have successfully restructured the bus...

Renovations to BPL's Johnson Wing | Back Bay

With the exception of a new trees covering street signs, trees are almost always a plus. How many times have you seen a tree lined street and think "the trees are an eyesore". The more trees the better. The nice thing about trees is that they get bigger and look better every year.

Lovejoy Wharf | 131 Beverly Street | West End

This project is the perfect example of how buildings don't need to have height to make a difference. This project will be much more transformative than Avalon while being much shorter. Materials, context, and attention to detail really do matter. I'm hoping that Related Beal continues this at...

    Biking in Boston

In all fairness, it is upto 1/4-1/2 of a mile radius. Assuming that they have any logic in their placement of the stations by putting them in denser areas, a majority of the population will be within a 1-3 minute walk of a station. The thing I think is most insane about this is that it is...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I agree with you that right now, McGrath is a disaster. But won't the grounding mcgrath project that includes 2 separated 2 way bike lanes with traffic signals and protected intersections help dramatically? I think that the path should go along the GLX until mcgrath at medford st/oliver area...
