Quincy Market Update/Renovation | Faneuil Hall Marketplace | Downtown

Just anecdotal, but I thought I'd chime in since I've given informal tours of Boston to friends and tourists and have helped countless souls looking for the "Red Line" trail since 1975...Far and away the Freedom Trail has been first on their lips, with Faneuil Hall (NOT the marketplace) on their...

101 Seaport Blvd (PwC) | Parcel L1@Seaport Sq. | Seaport

I, who have been tired of the seaport glass box craze, love this one! The massing is great and overall looks like a jewel.

    50 Liberty @ Fan Pier | 50 Liberty Drive | Seaport

Meh...another smoked glass building with great renderings that do not reflect reality.

Hook Wharf | 400 Atlantic Ave | Downtown

Great location for something tall as shown by data. And if a residence, then it would have a particular cache!

    Twenty20 @ Northpoint | 20 Child Street | Cambridge

^And the concrete's already stained and disfigured!

    City Hall Plaza

There's a lot they can do during the summer....tables, umbrellas, inflatable pools, bring on the pina coladas.

South End Infill and Small Developments

^ May Goldman be forced to look at this garbage every day of his life.

Center Plaza Renovation | Center Plaza | Government Center

It's a shame the rear plaza is not being addressed. Granted that the courthouses need security, but I'd like to see Court Street reopened, with that section of Center Plaza demolished and a couple of taller, bookend buildings on either side of the Court St. This would allow for access to the...

South End Infill and Small Developments

I so agree! Knowing the history of this church, the destruction of the period interior and the addition of an unsympathetic steel and glass box I can only grieve. So much better has been done in the South End with church repurposing...this is just a slap in the face.

    Academic Building @ Suffolk U | 20 Somerset Street | Beacon Hill

Okay, I'll admit it's not as awful as I thought before the glass went in. The windows look vaguely industrial-chic and, while not making things wonderful, at least balance off the facade treatment.

30 Dalton St. Residences | Back Bay

I've hated that Hilton since day 1...the mirrored corner treatment didn't help. It was as if they didn't care except to build a tall warehouse for conventioneers. At least the 1st Sheraton tower is a period piece for the Pru Center.

One Canal (formerly Greenway Center) | Bullfinch Triangle | West End

And some neighbors...from this last view it looks intrusive and isolated. The ongoing legacy of the expressway.

Former Grampy's Gas site | 290 Cambridge Street | Beacon Hill

Love the copper treatment of semi-oriel bays! Very early 20th C Urban!

    Watermark Seaport | 85 Seaport Blvd - Parcel K | Seaport

Re: Watermark Seaport (parcel K Seaport Sq.)/85 Seaport Blvd @ Seaport Sq./Seaport I stand corrected, unfortunately....I yearn for true "running bond."

    Watermark Seaport | 85 Seaport Blvd - Parcel K | Seaport

Re: Watermark Seaport (parcel K Seaport Sq.)/85 Seaport Blvd @ Seaport Sq./Seaport I'm just glad it isn't mirrored glass! Or red brick!

    Brookline Hotel | 111 Boylston | Brookline

Maybe this will turn out better than the rendering for a change, rather than the other way around (tho I'm not that hopeful!)

Hamilton Co. Apartment Bldg | 1085 Boylston Street | Fenway

I like the use of shadows, as well as of facade material....actually looks three dimensional from any angle (the way any building should), and substantial.

    Academic Building @ Suffolk U | 20 Somerset Street | Beacon Hill

The issue is not negativity or disdain, IMO. The issue is that so much could have been done with this important site on Beacon Hill that would have added to the otherwise bleak landscape in part caused by the disregard for the site by previous mega-projects going back decades. I guess I would...

    Why is Boston So Ugly?

There are lots of visual icons in Boston but tend to be whole neighborhoods as in many European cities like London, Paris, Rome (Beacon Hill, Back Bay, South End). And before skyscrapers, the churches of Boston dominated the skyline in these neighborhoods. I'd hate Boston to end up like...
