City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

Bingo! IMO, as it currently stands, the South Boston waterfront is destined to be a huge failure, and not serve as an extension of downtown as Menino has touted. Where is the human aspect of the neighborhood? Where is the charm? I realize that a lot has yet to come, and that maybe it is a...

Looking at the rendering in that picture, this development might not suck

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

They are already getting a brand new T station from the developer. As it stands, this is a brownfields development, the city is benefiting just from the reclamation of previously unusable land. Do you want to crush the chances of redeveloping this area of the city by burdensome/unnecessary...

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

Padre Mike, thanks for your post. As for the Mellon Building, I don't think the name will change. Bank of New York may be the bigger entity in the merger, but Mellon has a better brand name. All of the custody business from BoNY will be migrated to the Mellon platform, and all of the...

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

Downtown Crossing is much better than SoWa, or one of those other stupid marketing names that realtors randomly create. I was in Charlotte last week, and everyone was talking about NoDa. So freakin annoying sounding. Its been Downtown Crossing for as long as I can remember. I don't have a...

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

A good example of pedestrian/car traffic flow is Newbury street. The sidewalks are always jammed with people, its a busy district. But the cars and traffic flow are also part of the ambiance, and part of the charm of the neighborhood. Its the place to see and be seen, and what better a way...

    Tir Na Nog

This same kind of crap happened to the Someday Cafe in Davis. We'll see if the Nog can open somewhere else, but alas, it won't be the same.

It was supposed to close January 31, but they were able to get another month added on. I went about five times last month thinking it was closing by Jan 31.

I don't think the bomb squad has overreacted in this "hoax". They're just doing their job. Its the media thats overreacting.

45 Province St | Downtown Crossing

Went by this site the other day... The garage has been totally leveled and they're carting away the remaining debris. Excavation for the foundation will begin very soon. What's really noteworthy about this project is how small the parcel of land is. Its tiny! I'm really anxious to see what...

South End Infill and Small Developments

Why can't you understand that not everybody values a high paying job as much as you do? It is not the most important thing in life, there are other ways to find happiness. Unfettered consumerism and materialism is an unhealthy way to happiness. And last time I checked France had a capitalist...

Vanshnookenraggen, I completely agree with your statements, and thank you for posting them so clairvoyantly. The truth is, we are a product of our surroundings, and as individuals, we seek to align our core principles with the places we choose to live, and that could be a drug infested crack...

Back Bay Infill project - 1869 (request for help)

Wow, that's great. I never knew about any of these proposals. An island community in the middle of the Charles?? That is ludicrous, but I kind of like the idea for some reason. It reminds me of playing Sim City. Adding islands and what not just to make a city cool and interesting looking.

Belkin sure is a charismatic and influential person. The type of person needed to make a project like this happen.

I like how they have dedicated bike lanes all throughout the area. North Harvard St., as it currently stands is AWFUL.
