South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Re: South Boston Development Washington St. Silverline or Seaport? These are completely different. The Seaport Silverline stations also have some of the nicest stations IMO (underground at that). You really should ride it from South Station to the SPID, its not a bad experience at all.

Not bad at all.. hopefully the retail will build out prior to completion.

Looks like Ming's rooftop plans fell through, for now. Hopefully he decides to add it in the future, would give a nice buzz and life to this corner http://news.bostonherald.com/entertainment/food_dining/general/view.bg?articleid=1061148019&srvc=home&position=alsol

Fort Point Infill and Small Developments

Not to break up the discussion, but while on this topic I have one related question to ask: Why was Channel Center built with it's retail away from A street? I've walked down A every day for the last year, and had no idea that Channel Center Street was as nice as it is. It's no wonder why...

Thanks for clarifying. When you said recent, I thought you meant within the last month or so. Totally agree with your frustrations.. I remain hopeful that the burst of residential will boost retail demand in the area forcing new zoning and build-outs to suit them. I know it's not ideal...

I thought that the original plans for 63 and 51 were private and residential, with 49 being the final phase that includes retail. Found an article from March that backs this up - http://articles.boston.com/2012-03-07/yourtown/31132957_1_residential-project-senior-project-manager-office-space...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Portion sizes and lack of exercise are obvious factors, but many other things are in play.. Stress is a huge factor that doesn't get much attention. When stressed, your body goes into storage mode instead of using food as fuel and energy. Corn subsidies are also a huge component of the problem...

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Re: South Boston Development What I was inferring to is that the State Street move has primed the area for explosion.. therefore putting the tax-break to good use. Yes, there is a ton of development already happening, but also a ton of empty retail which I see filling in with 4,000 State...

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Re: South Boston Development Seaport this is not - but the Broadway T area is primed to explode with this new development. Worth tax dollars? It could be argued both ways.

When the condo market bounces back, there will be density. Yes, the build out won't be nearly as nice as older Boston neighborhoods, but its universally understood that those types of neighborhoods simply are not built in today's Boston (look at the West End) or today's America for that matter...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Listen - I know many people don't think this way here, but in my view (and this is my last comment on this topic) if large footprints are what builds these days, then build away. Point to a US city that is building neighborhoods like the North End. I'll go to the Seaport on Friday, and North...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Understood - but in most cases (state street being the only one I can think of) footprints are very similar to that of taller office buildings. The condos to come.. a different story, but nonetheless the "suburb by the water" comparison is not a fair one, or a correct one.

Isn't the only real comparison the height of the buildings, which are under FAA restrictions?

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Is it the waterfront restaurants, museums, convention center, art exhibits, brewery or concert venue that make it like Rt. 128?

Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Ink Block | Boston Herald Property Redevelopment I know this is retail, but since it's been discussed on this thread - Whole Foods moves toward South End location The former headquarters of Boston's blue-collar tabloid could become home to a new, South End location for an upscale...

    MA Casino Developments

Whenever someone mentions this about the Seaport, I have to wonder if they realize the dramatic changes and constant residential development that is happening in South Boston. It seems that the Seaport is designed to be Southie's business district - yes there will be upscale residential housing...
