Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Ink Block | Boston Herald Property Redevelopment There really needs to be a plan developed on how to make traveler and west 4th more pedestrian friendly under the expressway areas. Lots of new residential in the mix and I would think Broadway would be the obvious T stop for most.

In addition, the BCEC is dying for more hotels to be built in the area. What could spur hotel growth better than a resort casino?

    MA Casino Developments

At first I thought Suffolk would make the most sense, but after reading this thread over the last few days I have to agree - it does not make any sense whatsoever. It does seem like the one that is the easiest sell to the general public ("Gambling has taken place here for decades", etc) but...

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Re: South Boston Development The development in this area is walkable to Broadway as well as the SPID, which is why I see this as being marketed to people who work there. I doubt they will expand any MBTA Bus lines with all the debt they are currently facing. Better chance that they will...

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Re: South Boston Development Along the reserve channel? I think this area is still zoned industrial.. I believe it was the proposed location for the USPS move (delayed as of now). Pappas does have a huge open lot along west 1st that could be residential though.

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Re: South Boston Development Although I hate some of the big-block projects (H street for example), I like this one. It will help add density to a very desolate and quiet area. This area is booming in residential development -- to me it seems like it may serve as the core residential area...

    Channel Center | Fort Point

Although I love the new park, and the rest of the parks in the plan, I will say that I don't understand the mess of parks near the channel in the 100 acre plan. Seems to be under-utilizing the waterfront.

Right, and last I heard there was a stronger demand than supply for restaurant space in the SPID. And roughly 2 convenient stores and zero drug stores exist today.

Right - isn't this exactly what the BRA is for?

Why is this a concern? Wouldn't you rather have empty retail until the market demands it versus no opportunity for it?

Absolutely agree. I love all of the development happening in Fort Point, and this will be a huge addition for the areas growth, but your 100% on-point with your argument. In 10 years they will begin a 10 year process debating whether or not to re-develop the garage. In a way, it seems like that...

    Channel Center | Fort Point

Agree that a garage in general is not good for this area - it should be underground. The majority of the retail along channel center street is vacant, though, right (just Barlow's)? Could this be part of the reason why more retail spots were not included?

This isn't BRA approved yet, is it? Hopefully these issues were brought up during yesterday's community meeting (doubtful).

Fort Point Infill and Small Developments

Most of the development in Fort Point right now (and there is a lot), is to existing buildings. The only "new" development other than this project is 319 A Rear, which is the first building to be built according to the plan. Not singling you out in any way, but it's a bit contradicting to say...

Cool.. I think that follows the 100 Acre Plan which is nice to see.

Fort Point Infill and Small Developments

Might be a stupid question but is the right side the parking garage? Main reason why I ask this is that in the 100 Acre Plan, there is another building along A and Richards street in the USPS parcel, and the rest is a park. Wondering if that building is intended to be used as the garage or...

Fort Point Infill and Small Developments

The BBJ rendering is at least better than the one that I posted earlier.. but very Kendall Sq. I think we will see changes before design is final. Wondering if retail is included. This development will probably help fill the empty retail that already sits in Channel Center. Hopefully this...

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

Re: South Boston Development I believe each unit has a two-car garage. Pricing is around 600K. These townhouses are exactly what this area, (SPID border) and Boston in general needs. I personally love the designs as well. This project shows what is possible and is another reason why I am...
