Boston Bombing Memorial | Boylston St | Back Bay

We also trivialise it with movies and cheap retrospectives. Is anyone still buying a ‘Boston Strong’ T-shirt still being hawked at Quincy Market or Logan gift shops? Ask someone in Parkland or Newtown if their attacks were attack enough for a memorial. The latter one, is getting one, so I...

Boston Bombing Memorial | Boylston St | Back Bay

Mixed thoughts on this...but I do look forward to it's addition to Boylston Street. We no longer do equestrian statues or Gothic water fountains, so esoteric it has to be. And it's more than a stone bench with inscribed names, which is the usual civic token. I know this is important for...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

You never know..different marketing strategies, codeshare opportunities, and consumer loyalty. jetBlue has kept Mexico City a daily, whilst AeroMexico has come and gone...again. Avianca was good for beyond BOG/SAL, but US consumers are not familiar with them. They also didn't have much...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

And Copa, whilst not technically South America by mere miles, adds the 1-2 dailies to PTY serving similar markets as Avianca.

The Sudbury (Bulfinch Crossing Residential Tower) | 50 Sudbury St | GCG Phase I | Gov't Center

Interesting thoughts on Metabolist... I'll be glad when it is gone, the replacement buildings are just gravy. The land-scraping parallel on Sudbury Street to the JFK Building reinforces the disruption to the historical urban fabric. I appreciate the JFK complex, but don't love the low rise...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

To paraphrase a response from yesterday... I could not give less than the other half of the remaining shit, for what the people on trains will not see...The 90 seconds in the morning and evening that people will spend walking to or from their commuter trains is the least of our problems...

    Boston & Cambridge - 1950's

Pretty sure this has been posted before - but always worth the watch. The Globe has it headlining online today - Boston 1969. Whadda dump. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2019/03/08/old-film-captures-mess-that-was-boston-years-ago/kQn2LODziIDxMI3fizO1aK/story.html

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

Sweet baby jesus...You're certainly entitled to your thoughts, but the irony of the words you have chosen whilst you continually deride every community group, activist and bureaucrat within the city on the daily...or you're taking the piss out of all of us.

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial | Boston Common | Downtown

Are you saying it needs your beloved 'Bostonification'? :D :D :D Hardly PC garbage at all. It adds a modern artistic vocabulary to the Common, just as the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial does for its time. It's also not some throwaway engraved granite curb or esoteric fountain that leaks 4 months...

Dock Square Parking Garage | 20 Clinton Street | Downtown

Re: Dock Square Parking Garage | 20 Clinton Street | Well that's the crux of it, isn't it? Aside from some pastiche Federalist po-mo fantasy, what would the BPA not find blasphemous? I'd love to sit in and watch a design charette to see what happens if the BPA had the opportunity to develop...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

The choice was do nothing and let what had been interior party wall exposed for 50 years crumble on to the sidewalk, or let a developer try to make it work.. Perfect no, but the money was spent places you cannot see to save the building. More a lesson on the few fucks given in the 1950s to...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport Sorry, nope, almost everything in the Seattle pipeline is 420-450' - or shorter. There are a few exceptions within the central core, but everything along Westlake up to Denny Way is zoned for max of 450'. They have to protect those views of the...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport Re: Seattle - just because new buildings are 400-450' does not make them any better or interesting than Boston's perpetual 270-300' stumps. It's the same soulless chrome and glass superblock you can find being built in ANY city around the world...

    BU Development Thread

If this was going up in any other city, you'd be crying 'why can't we buildings like that'. It is directly across from the commie block Warren Towers, and doesn't involve tear down of anything, so why not be bold or weird? It plays vertically against the horizontal jumbled blocks of the Law...
