Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

When I was at BU the school brochures and other literature would state that the school was in Back Bay with Packards corner I presume as the border for crossing into Allston.

    Worcester Ballpark & Redev

I remember getting a steady diet of 1) the Braves, 2) the Mets (wwor or something out of Secaucus) and 3) the Yankees believe it or not (channel 26?). You can't ever forget Phil Rizzuto (sp?) calling a game.

    Worcester Ballpark & Redev

A few thoughts: 1) agree about the team owners trashing Fenway 20 years ago, but that was during the utterly corrupt and inept era where a trust owned the team and was governed by a CEO (Harrington) who didn't have any of his own money in the team but was looking for a big payday if the trust...

Pinnacle at Central Wharf (Harbor Garage) | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

I think blasting the Aquarium for their opposition and their motivations is a legit discussion. Maybe a discussion about the odors that penguins generate in a closed space belong somewhere else. Also johnny I'm a bit surprised you haven't advocated for turning the NEAQ into affordable housing...

    Arlington Developments

Even though I'll be ponying up for the new high school, the old one needed to go. We took a tour of it and it's a mish mash of 100 year old buildings connected not very well to a subsequent half dozen add ons over the next 60 years of its life. I don't believe any updates have happened since...

So, you're saying it ended up being a moot point?

    Post-COVID Urbanism Discussion

Nothing personal but I think many of us saw all the predictions made with certainty that Winthrop Square, South Station Tower, Whiskey Priest site etc were all dead and buried last year. I chalk up the glut of office space prediction with those earlier ones. The problem with shared...

Pinnacle at Central Wharf (Harbor Garage) | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

That's what I was thinking as well. Any legal beagles out here who can add some clarity? The ruling seems to be that a different agency needs to sign off. So, get them to sign off and call it a day.

West Cambridge / Alewife Area Infill & Small Developments

But it's not the developer's job to build a bridge. It's the city's. This is why we get boring architecture. By the time everybody gets paid off the offsetting savings come out of the building design.

West Cambridge / Alewife Area Infill & Small Developments

I'm still not sure why building desperately needed housing near transit is generating so much angst. Cambridge unlike almost every other municipality is really stepping up and constructing new apartments quickly. Regarding traffic, it was a problem before and will remain one until flying cars...

Middlesex County Courthouse Redevelopment | 40 Thorndike St | East Cambridge

It serves as a big reminder of the futility of NIMBYism. The fantasyland effort to get the building torn down went on for far too long, and now it's payback time! The uglier this building becomes during it's rehab, the more I like it! Turn it into Cambridge's version of the Hurley building! ;)

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

I don't remember the "old" Kendall square of....what 20? 30? years ago but it is pretty generic. However if it replaced a bunch of old warehouses and axle repair shops then I suppose it's better than before.

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

It was a dump that smelled like piss. If you get off on that, to each his own is all I have to say!

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

I agree up to a point. I'm not lamenting the loss of The Rat or Captain Nemo's. However that building did start the trend of destroying the architectural fit of the neighborhood. That's not the end of the world as often one different looking building can work. But that hotel has no relation...

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

I agree and blame my alma mater to some extent. BU pivoted away from Kenmore to develop west campus and became indifferent to what got built and how it meshed with everything else. The result is a disjointed look and feel. Is it corporate? Is it academic? Is it bohemian? Is it residential...

    11-21 Bromfield Street | DTX | Downtown

I'll second the notion that isn't it the job of the developers to gauge the market for office space and not random people on an internet message board? If they're wrong that's their problem, right? We had people posting out here 6 months ago who were sure Winthrop Square and South Station...
