Its like a list of every ugly building that's ever been built!

[ARCHIVED] Harbor Garage Redevelopment | 70 East India Row | Waterfront | Downtown

Why would it be? Problem #1 was the zoning, which just got cleared up. Now it goes to court where HT residents and CLF extortion outfit will either win or lose. If they lose they're screwed. As has been explained often, stalling tactics don't work here because the garage is a profitable...

Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Pure speculation on my part, but 1) the tribe seems to be horribly inept at managing their own finances, much less a casino, that they wouldn't even be in consideration if they weren't in fact the only federally recognized tribe in region 3. The state all things being equal would open the...

Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

IMHO I think this is a convenient excuse not to issue a 3rd license in an oversaturated market. The Mashpee tribe has a better chance of seeing God than winning this court case as the SCOTUS ruling is very clear - no reservation shopping is allowed in their situation. The law would have to...

If a politician's relative rides a horse, they get money from this fund. Duh. ;)

Hurley Building Redevelopment | 19 Staniford St | West End

I "get it" I'm just saying I understand why people don't consider the Hurley and Govt Center to be related at first glance, despite the shared ugliness of both buildings.

Hurley Building Redevelopment | 19 Staniford St | West End

Right but city hall = Boston and Hurley = state offices which is why they seem distinct to me as well. Aside from the butt ugly architecture I wouldn't have figured they go together.

I think he's answered the naysayers though who kept asking him to do something. Until the area was rezoned it was kind of difficult to go down that road. Now that the rezoning is done he's kicking off the first step so good for him. Harbor Towers people should be laughed out of court or forced...

L Street Station Redevelopment (née Old Edison Plant)| 776 Summer Street | South Boston

I feel 1700 units was a negotiating ploy given the Massport issue. They probably could and should have squeezed in a couple hundred more units but I can deal with what we got. Its also proof of just how easy it is to buy the opposition off. Forget about tens of millions of dollars of linkage...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Kinda makes me wonder how 1) nobody missed the guy when he was off drinking during work hours, and 2) nobody noticed the whiskey on his breath after he put away 4 drinks in two hours then went back to work. Unless that sort of thing is par for the course at MBTA headquarters....

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

did some digging and this is what I came up with: http://www.westcoastbk.com/blog/2011/07/can-a-state-county-or-city-government-file-for-bankruptcy/ "Chapter 9 provides that municipalities may reorganize their debts. The Bankruptcy Code defines a municipality as a “political subdivision or...

It helps if you hang around at local bars 2 hours after lunchtime. Usually the only people still there work for the T! :D

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

No they're not because this the like one billionth example of well connected T workers pulling shit like this. From the article, the guy who isn't a lawyer has double the salary of the woman who was that he replaced. If its not his credentials getting him double the salary, then what is it...

West Cambridge / Alewife Area Infill & Small Developments

I would have liked to have been born independently wealthy too so I wouldn't have to work for a living. Problem is that didn't happen, so now I have to deal with the situation as it is, not as I'd like it to be. Cities need to build housing near existing transit. Cambridge is doing so. I...

So.......we shouldn't be building residential next to subway stations according to some posters?

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

This is 100% of the reason why people won't sign on for gas tax hikes, congestion pricing, or anything else until the entire MBTA is overhauled. Does anybody really think this guy is a one off issue? Or is he indicative of the entire organization - unaccountable, overpaid, and politically...

L Street Station Redevelopment (née Old Edison Plant)| 776 Summer Street | South Boston

So neighborhood NIMBY's got bought off with the promise of parking spaces? Wish I was a fly on the wall at the CLF when they got news of that one. :D Time to go find their next con I guess. I always prefer more housing but 636 units is nothing to sneeze at given the particulars of the...

Housing (Supply Crisis & Public Policy)

I hear ya but Rhode Island needs to pony up as its not Massachusetts' problem that their citizens don't have access to transit. This state has put a lot of $$$ and effort into getting the Worcester connections working and its one of the smarter transit related initiatives that the state has...

Housing (Supply Crisis & Public Policy)

Nobody wants to live in Rhode Island. Budget is a mess, schools are in shambles and its taken forever to regain job losses from great recession. You can run transit there all day but aside from Newport what does RI give you that Worcester doesn't?
