Bay Village Apartment Tower | 212 Stuart St. | Bay Village

I've lived in the neighborhood for close to 20 years and this is so good, so good. I can't find the maths, but my understanding was that this might become THE most expensive rental building in the city per square foot. Which is crazy to think of...all of Boston...and Bay Villiage gets the nod.

    Supertalls in Boston?

We have 2 other buildings under construction that fit that model. Include aquarium and that's 4 by 2030. Add Dalton/boylston and 5. I do not see any model save a "salesforce" situation that would include a supertall in Boston before 2040. I'll hedge my bet by saying "top out"

    Supertalls in Boston?

You are right on nearly all accounts. You are correct in using Salesforce as evidence. I am personally in favor of 2 in Boston. One on the Saks site at the Pru, and the other where Spaulding and the jail are. I am certainly no prognosticator, but I do see the biotech sector flourishing over...

    Supertalls in Boston?

As much as nobody wants to admit it, the reason there is no super tall is that there is not a market for one, and never really was. Both the Pru and Hancock were pride projects and can't be repeated. The major commercial banks that built downtown have all been purchased save State Street, which...

Dick’s House of Sports | Prudential Center | Back Bay

All this talk of 1000 feet...not here. Anything wide here will kill the Gloucesters views north, and will not happen. There IS room along Ring Rd to slide a narrow taller building in that would not do TOO much damage to view corridors. As for a super tall on the property, it goes where Saks...

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

This has been a neighborhood park for me, so I have lots of opinions, but The grass is ridiculous. Typically it is roped off till mid summer. It gets destroyed EVERY New Years and is more weeds than grass by fall no matter what they do. They re planted the whole thing last year. Can you...

Lafayette Garage Sale | 1 Avenue De Lafayette | Downtown

It is different than I really think this is zoned the same as the rest of downtown, and this is the exact center of that loveable mess. I'm calling for the 6th tallest structure in the city, one that from many angles won't even be noticed. That said, I will never fill Orandina's shoes🙂, but...

Lafayette Garage Sale | 1 Avenue De Lafayette | Downtown

This building should be 680 feet. Or there should be 2 at 680 feet given the footprint. Anything less is a massive waste. Actually it should be the tallest in Boston, but FAA.

Back Bay Garage Tower | Dartmouth and Stuart | Back Bay

Since this thread is active, you folks are the only people who might know... there is a loud continuous "horn" noise at the intersection of Stuart and Dartmouth; what is it and where is coming from!? I'll pay to have someone jack hammer whatever it is, and I'll approve of any project that kills...

Commonwealth Pier Revitalization (née Seaport WTC)| 200 Seaport Boulevard | Seaport

. I know the Finnish are not Danish... all puns aside... nordic sensibilities lend themselves towards a strong clean exterior finish. I wish we had more of it here in Boston.

    "Midtown"/Widett Circle in a non-Olympics Boston

I walk this area regularly. The loop using the Traveler's and W. 4th St. bridges is definite infrastructure porn. My impression is that a reconstructed Dorchester Ave bridge to South Station should be first on the list of things to do. As has been stated, access to the area is limited, and...

Back Bay Garage Tower | Dartmouth and Stuart | Back Bay

There is one there now, but it is beyond bad, and closed on weekends. This is MAJOR improvement.

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

In regards to a road diet, the illimination of the right turn lane from Merrimac (south bound) into the intersection would create a large public space connected to the courthouse. That, combined with the landscaping for the tower and the reconfuration of Haymarket T entrances, combined with the...

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Slightly off topic, but are there any thoughts about the parking lot across the street? The one with the ridiculous coffee shop. It has all the looks of "2 Financial Center", where the leather district folks said no to a 20 building. It could, however, end up being something that turns that...

Boston Tech Center Redevelopment | 176 Lincoln Street | Brighton

Which would be very cool. It's already happening in the South End and it really makes you feel like this is a real city, not "the towne".

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

I agree with you in principle. That said, the parking spaces are becoming more valuable as density increases. It will take years for the land value to increase enough that parking gets put underground. If ever.

Bartlett Yards | 2505-2565 Washington Street | Roxbury

Give this thing 20 or 30 years. It is a complete disaster right now, the whole thing, right down to the water and sewage. I repeat, from a hydrologic perspective, this thing is disaster.

The Parker Boston (nee LaGrange Tower) | 47-55 LaGrange St. | Downtown

If there was a single spot in Boston that exceplfies the "new Boston" this site has to qualify. The idea that luxury condos are being constructed half a block from a strip club and a homeless shelter, with an address on an alley, is quite something.

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

I am really excited about the redevelopment of Andrew Square in general, and this is a great start. Sadly, the restaurant industry will be the last to recover from this mess and places like Andrew and Union Square will suffer for it, among other new "places" evolving in the area.

808 Memorial Drive Renovation | Cambridgeport

My difficulty with Brutalism has a lot to do with the color of unaltered concrete. Especially in a residential neighborhood, it makes things nicer when things have some vibrancy to them, some color. And there have been studies regarding this. A lot of them.
