    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Ron Newman - thanks for the sarcasm detector...it arrived last night. Oh-ya...this thing is Real useful. Anyway, This particular fountain is definitely chlorinated. You could smell it upon approach. You'll notice in the pictures that my daughter isn't actually in the water.... I didn't want...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

How you do you figure? Being there in person I can attest to the fact that everyone was enjoying themselves. The fountain sprays water in different patterns for a couple minutes then stops for about a minute and repeats like this over and over again. Some of the pics are of when the fountain...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Thanks for the photo-posting tip. Here are some pics from Saturday June 21st. Forgive the fact that every picture has a subject - I wasn't taking these with the intention of posting here. But you get the idea of what the crowd was like. ...and one I photoshopped for the hell of it...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

The North End parks are in fact a success as someone noted. Over the last month I've eaten there a few times during my lunch-break. My co-workers, who didn't even know it existed, really enjoyed it as well, but noted it will look much better once the vines grow in on the pergolas. The few...

Those might just be "place-holders" for actors or extras.

Copley Place Expansion and Tower | Back Bay

Re: Copley Place plan calls for condo tower By her own standards she's not even allowed to walk outside during daylight hours in fear that she may cast a shadow and ruin someones lunch break. Such a pity.

    Basketball @NO.station

Read that yesterday and was going to post in the RKG thread. I think it's pretty interesting how a former Boston resident views the big dig. You should repost in case people miss it here...

The Kensington | 665 Washington Street | Downtown

Re: Residences at Kensington So is the rendering on page 6 of this thread still what we're getting. That's a nice looking proposal.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 Exactly Briv! I was going to say it looks like something out of the Alien's dwellings from the movie. Good eye!

    Crossroads Initiative

City Hall Plaza could have been more successful had they built the curved "Center Plaza" building on the other side of Camridge Street, basically puting it on CHP. This would have walled in an put retail right on CHP making it more like the piazzas found in Europe.

What was proposed and what was built.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic...but I was actually thinking that. Would certainly add some much needed diversity to what we've got here.

    Aerials

^ That would be cool. But I think it would be even cooler if it were real-time. That would be pretty sweet.

What was proposed and what was built.

I think what we got in this case was pretty good. The Hancock Tower is iconic (for boston) and has great interaction with Trinity Church and the hancock Building, not to mention the way the building seems to change with the sky around it. We may not have viewed that other version in the same way.

What was proposed and what was built.

Cool thread indeed! I was just thinking the other day about being able to go back and see what people thought of proposed buildings of the past. It looks as though in most of these examples (so far) that the end result may actually be better than the proposal. Maybe the same will happen with...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 I can't post an attachment, but if you check out boston.com right now there is a render of the city with TNP. (If you click on "proposed tower" in the graphics sidebar, but you can't access it if you are actually in the story - stupid) But...

Radian (Dainty Dot) | 120 Kingston Street | Chinatown

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown Ah...thank you for the clarification. I liked what I thought were the new renders. That is indeed a piss-poor situation, as either of those designs would have been nice.

Bulfinch Triangle Infill & Small Projects

I think the key in this area, as someone mentioned, is that it plays nice with it's neighbors. If the materials are decent this should fit nicely as an end cap to the Triangle. Now...if we can just get rid of teh Gov't Center Garage! What's the lifespan on that thing anyway?

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 If something "super tall" is going to be built, one would think it would have to be out by the Hancock and Pru, since those are the two tallest already. But the activists in those neighborhoods are vicious. You got the Nimby's on one end of...

Radian (Dainty Dot) | 120 Kingston Street | Chinatown

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown Am I missing something? Looking at the new design a few pages back (on page 17), it looks like part of the DD is still incorporated at street level. Am I seeing something incorrectly? I agree with Jimbo Jones and think this new design looks...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

Re: Columbus Center Also, Walz alluding to CC as a "bad project" is ridiculous. It seems to me that with the exception of Marty and her posse, most people think CC would be great for the economy and the quality of life in that area of the city. Declaring war...what a joke.
