    General Infrastructure

Isn't the lack of left-hand front doors on GL cars a problem here? Fare payment would be problematic unless the T also switches to POP with all-door boarding (which would be nice, but...). Yeah, and I was wondering how these cycletracks would help cyclists who are turning at any of these...

MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

If this gets the T to do more TOD, then that sounds great. The article that I read did mention they were thinking of building garages (underground?) to replace the surface spaces though. Are they talking about surface lots for T employees or lots next to stations for commuters? Also this bit...

    Biking in Boston

Nice, I didn't realize this was happening. This is built with future two-tracking as a possibility right? I couldn't tell if that was the case from the slides I found about it. (says the MIT report "doesn’t preclude two-track service if path is built on north side" but I didn't see if that's...

    Is parking too cheap?

If bicycle infrastructure becomes so popular that the bicycle parking resource becomes scarce despite reasonable investment and it needs to be priced, then yes. As it is, we're nowhere near that in Boston. Also since bicycles take up about 10 times less space than a car, I'd expect to pay...

    Is parking too cheap?

What's funny is that the cost you gave for the fifth and sixth cars is around what it costs to rent an off-street parking spot. Of course off-street parking isn't the same, but I think it shows how absurdly far the parking situation is from a "free market".

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos It's nice that they're going to reinvest the proceeds from selling this art into new artwork for the station.

    Biking in Boston

Saw this horrifying story earlier on Reddit about the bike lane situtation at the same intersection: I would've been terrified to get in front of a truck driver who has already shown how blase he is about letting cyclists die. But I also would've been livid.

    Biking in Boston

Found this on Twitter. The traffic situation at that new bike lane at Mass Ave and Beacon: https://twitter.com/VorpalChortle/status/638843627985350656 Not good. Those plastic bollards and bus stop move can't come soon enough.

    Biking in Boston

Yeah this is a real source of stress. I usually look at a Google Maps satellite view to see if there are bike lanes or at least sharrows (I'm not sure those do anything, but it makes me more confident) in a new area I'm biking to. But then you still get there and you might have no idea how some...

    Gov't Center Station Rebuild

In case the potential GLX cancellation wasn't bad news enough, here's some more. At least it won't lead to any delays or cost overruns though.

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos If these routes have low ridership and are money-losers for the T, why would a private company want to run these routes? Or are they going to jack the prices way up and not have a uniform fare system?

Public Food Market | 136 Blackstone Street | Haymarket | Downtown

I'd also love to have some cheap food ala Tsukiji here. The stalls there selling fried food, fresh sashimi, pickled veggies, etc. are awesome. And then there are some slightly higher-end restaurants in the mix where you can get a $50 bowl of sea urchins. Sadly, Tsukiji market in its current...

    Fenway HoJo's Redevelopment | 1271 Boylston Street | Fenway

The character "ko" (子) is also a common ending for female names. Like "Sayako", "Ryoko", etc. So it's probably also a play on that.

Public Food Market | 136 Blackstone Street | Haymarket | Downtown

I also got knishes there the other day and they gave me the wrong one too. I guess they need to label them better. Also enjoyed getting donuts, though I heard from someone that they've temporarily canceled deliveries due to the new shop. There was some produce I'd think about picking up, like...

    Fenway HoJo's Redevelopment | 1271 Boylston Street | Fenway

Sorry to bump an ancient thread, but the new restaurant in the Verb Hotel officially opened today (these last few days they were doing a soft opening). http://www.hojokoboston.com/ http://boston.eater.com/2015/8/6/9107377/hojoko-opens-fenway (has photos) It's pretty tasty, though I've been to...

Boylston West @ Fenway Triangle (Van Ness) | 1325 Boylston Street | Fenway

Re: Boylston West @ Fenway Triangle (Goodyear Tire) | 1325 Boylston Street | Fenway I just noticed today that the new street next to the building (Richard B. Ross way) now has a traffic light at Boylston. Its presence makes the block feel pretty different already. It'll be great when the retail...
