    AirTrain Boston Logan

Speaking of, I just noticed about a week ago that they got new vehicles for the shuttle routes when I flew out for a conference. Looked like they were low floor buses from NABI (based on this press release).

    The New Retail Thread

Apparently Whole Foods just bought six Foodmaster locations as had been rumored a while back: http://www.wickedlocal.com/brookline/news/x1292882137/Whole-Foods-acquires-Brookline-location-of-Foodmaster#axzz2APEUBkE2

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

That's great news. Someone was proposing an indoor market for the Durgin Garage, but this will do nicely (especially since progress is so slow on that garage).

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's That's also the model in Japan as well, where they often have large play areas on the roof for kids. I've always wondered why there isn't more of that here, especially in places like Boston or NYC that could easily support it.

    Biking in Boston

My problem with the ad campaign is that it just continues the "blame the cyclist" mentality while doing nothing to address the fact that most Boston roads are not safe for cyclists. They have the helmet paintings on Huntington Ave. now right next to the sharrows, which do absolutely nothing to...

The Apartments at 525 Huntington Ave @ Wentworth | 525 Huntington Ave | Fenway

Re: The Apartments at 525 Huntington Ave (Wentworth) Agreed about retail options and street interactions. This area of Huntington could use more food and drink options for sure.

I'd say the City Council is at least hypocritical for listening to NIMBYs and rejecting BRT: http://systemicfailure.wordpress.com/2010/07/29/berkeleys-rejection-of-brt-and-its-implications-for-complete-streets/...

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos What I don't understand here is how "across the state" could have any relevance to Green Line boarding policies. Aside from Boston, the Green Line only directly serves Brookline, Newton, and Cambridge. That's hardly "across the state" in any...

    The New Retail Thread

I live somewhat close to this location and hope it's canned and the space is used for something more likely to improve the neighborhood instead like a restaurant, a cafe, or whatever. There are already at least four bank branches within a two block distance.

What would you do to get the T out of its financial mess?

Speaking of running the T, some information about the successor to the GM position: http://www.wickedlocal.com/brookline/news/x928645679/Two-Atlanta-transit-officials-are-finalists-for-MBTA-GM-post

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos I'm curious, why electric push-pull over EMUs? Does it fit in better with existing commuter rail infrastructure and/or practices? Would it be significantly harder/more expensive to go all the way with EMUs?

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Re: Filene's I really shouldn't read comments on online articles, but wow, people are already saying it will take the "charm" out of Boston. Judging from their profile info though, these people don't even live in Boston. In any case, I'm glad this tower was approved!

    Platform Screen Doors

And if anyone does spend that much time on the platform (I find Park St pretty stuffy while waiting for the right Green Line train), it means that there's a funding priority for anything that improves train frequency. Not platform screen doors.

Behind the scenes at Mass DOT

As an example, suppose you live in Coolidge Corner. The Devotion elementary/middle school is three blocks north of Beacon & Harvard. There is a karate dojo a block from the school and there is at least one piano teacher within eight blocks. Judging from Craigslist, I'm pretty sure you can easily...

Ink Block (Boston Herald) | 300 Harrison Avenue | South End

Re: Ink Block | Boston Herald Property Redevelopment That was a great article, thanks. It's sad to think of all the wasted effort razing a residential neighborhood just to rebuild it again over half a century later.

Northeastern University - Institutional Master Plan

Thanks for the pictures! The rendering of the Huntington Ave. building looks like it's positioned right between West Village H and Cargill Hall, replacing what is currently a triangular patch of grass and a few benches. Are they expanding the Computer Science department or the Law school or...
