Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

If this were Fenway or Assembly, sure, but that's wildly out of scale with Davis. I'm all for housing on top of transit, but this will absolutely dominate everything there. That looks like a superblock, and it's replacing a varied single-story set of storefronts. I mean... That picture isn't...

    USPS Complex | Fort Point

Until climate change makes Florida and Texas uninhabitable. Then they'll all want to come back.

    Worcester Ballpark & Redev

Interestingly, the newest ballpark to host one of the relatively few teams that had increasing attendance opened in 2008...

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

I think it's both. The problem for the neighborhood now is that West-East Rail puts them up against powerful political interests in Western Mass who have a huge amount of influence with Governors. MassDOT just can't let go of the fact that the land is there right next to the line, is close to...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

If I recall F-Line's many responses on this topic, the grade is too steep on the straightaway.

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

And of course they'll get this bus garage done before the MBTA even goes vertical on a single one...

AstraZeneca/Alexion MXD Tower | 290 Binney Street | Kendall Square

From new planning documents for the Center Park - 290 Binney is leased to AstraZeneca, partly as a new HQ for subsidiary Alexion Pharmaceuticals (this has actually been known since 2022). Since 250 Binney isn't coming anytime soon, recommend changing this thread title to "AstraZeneca/Alexion |...

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

This design seems relatively well-developed as of a couple of years ago. Has something changed? Basically just current school vernacular - a little disappointing from Sasaki. I do give them credit for incorporating the historic building, though the interior of the addition looks like quite the...

    The Official MBTA System Map

Just use the airplane icon you have at the airport itself, or "airport transfer" icon?

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

In terms of passenger rail, yes. In terms of freight rail, no, which is part of why we're so backward on passenger rail. There's a reason there's such a market for "Euro Truck Simulator" :) But that's not an excuse in the Boston Area, where freight rail is basically dead.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Well, Caltrain spent those seven years building catenary, among other things, and didn't tie their project to the inefficient wunderweapon of battery-electric trains. Put up the damn wires, MBTA. Join the mid-late 20th century.

Well, they rehired Kairos Shen, so their "Design Vision" should just be 100 blank pages. Don't want any of those pages to "make a statement".

Northland Newton | Needham St. @ Oak St. | Newton

Needham Street is actually a MassDOT project and was done entirely with this project (in its larger form with offices) in mind. This has been my soapbox for almost a decade now: Newton should have required Northland to build (or provision and escrow money for) Green Line platforms at Upper...

Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

This is what separates the MBTA Communities Law from, say, 40B. The point is supposed to be upzoning areas near transit so smaller developments can happen naturally through by-right development rather than encouraging master-planned mega developments on greenfield or brownfield sites. This...

    35 McGrath Highway | Somerville

Sure they can - they can see the potential to keep making money on the shopping center with a minimum of investment. They have a few properties that aren't strip malls, but retail really seems to be their competency.

    Boston Harbor Flood Protection Projects

Boston rejected the idea of a full flood barrier across navigable waterways in favor of waterfront improvements, raising, seawalls, etc. I don't see how any of that interferes with a navigable waterway.

    Boston Harbor Flood Protection Projects

I'd also point out that the Federal Government isn't the only entity that can spend a billion dollars on something. Cities and states are spending billions on sports stadiums for billionaire owners. The question is whether we get a functioning Legislature that can actually address the funding...
