Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport Some shots from 22 Liberty today. Space available for overpriced chain restaurant - harbor adjacent. European contractors mistake ft for m and build world's largest bus shelter.

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport There are two large Naval ships in the Seaport. At the dry dock was USNS Fisher which is a very large transport ship (951' long). It is pretty impressive if you have a chance. Couple of big cranes. As you can see by the photo it is maybe taller...

    Boston Parks/Green Spaces

Greenway - roughly south to north The greenway sucks, there is nobody there, lots of trash and tons of ramps. \sarcasm (parcel 25 - supposed to be a building someday). No pictures from Chinatown - I think this is a pretty good area for what it is. The wall of death stuff is a little silly...

    Boston Parks/Green Spaces

General Seaport Area Channel Center Park - definitely no one there. I imagine they are waiting for permitting. East of BCEC - I hope they do something good here. Piles on south side and compacted gravel looks like a structure? I thought this was supposed to be a cheap green space with...

    Boston Parks/Green Spaces

Fort Point Channel - A ventilation shaft building beautifully framed by a trellis unsullied by plants (see also Greenway). Children's Museum and boardwalk - good space, picnic tables are good No picture, but the park in front of the courthouse is very good. Fan Pier Green - not always...

    Boston Parks/Green Spaces

I went on a bike ride today and ended up with something of a photo essay of public spaces as found in Boston on this July 4th weekend. I thought it best placed here and that it might provoke further discussion. FWIW, I thought on the whole, as would be expected on a beautiful weekend day the...

AvalonBay Tower (Jacob Wirth's) | 45 Stuart Street | Downtown

Maybe back street is a better term. But here's the reverse street angle. I'll let you judge...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I'm sure cca can provide a better response and I agree with everything he said. But fwiw and for others edification my stab at a best answer might be something like, TL;DR (A) Idea to start of permitting - 3 to 15 years for idea inception to beginning of permitting including land acquisition...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Minor niggle, the GP building is Fan Pier or non-associated, it is not Seaport Square. And the Pier 4 building aligns with an old North Ave configuration (I think) but definitely not an existing one. I think it is more likely the angle on Pier 4 is done for views to the West and to align with...

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

Judging from the photos below, the Goodwin Proctor building looks pretty square to me. Aerial #1 Aerial #2 I would think we would still end up with a square Northern Ave / East Shore Dr or whatever. Commence street naming discussion.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

I would add that: (1) the elevator/stair and mechanical 'cores' are designed to "act that way" because they are a convenient place in the layout of an office building to place uniform width uninterrupted reinforced concrete walls. Small areas in walls can be interrupted for elevator & stair...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

What you are seeing is the just the forms used for building a vertical reinforced concrete wall. Once the wall is poured the forms will be stripped and it will look like the wall on the right hand side of the picture.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project (Allston) Sorry for the DMU/EMU digression, but back to the topic at hand. Although the MassDot proposals appear to be improving with time. I still have not seen a version which combines some of Davem's and others best ideas. These include placing New...

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Re: I-90 Interchange Improvement Project (Allston) Definitely, this. On a similar topic, I took the commuter rail from Back Bay to Yawkey yesterday for the Red Sox game, just to see how it functioned. Just prior to the game both directions arrived simultaneously and there was a good several...

    Biking in Boston

I'm obviously very sad to hear about the fatalities here, and I am not a frequent user of the area. I offer these thoughts simply to consider all the alternatives. (1) The turn from Vassar to Mass Ave would have the same problems / solutions as a turn from Mass Ave to tracks. (2) Traffic...

    Biking in Boston

I agree with this and other similar sentiments. As a frequent city biker I am all for dedicated trails and biking infrastructure, but I have yet to see a good argument for this specific path. I rode down Vassar yesterday, it has a fully dedicated bike line and little traffic. According to google...

    BCEC expansion | Seaport

I don't disagree with this analysis. But don't be fooled that this problem is confined to the public sector. This behavior is fundamentally a principal-agent problem that happens all the time in less competitive corporate sectors, especially with publicly owned companies.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

The primary purpose of reinforcement in concrete is to resist tension forces arising from bending moment, uplift or lateral forces. Hooking the reinforcing bar, usually either 90 deg or 180 deg transfers the tension in the bar to the concrete. As Data said it becomes more difficult to bend #8...
