This is just a hypothetical idea, but when the Custom House Tower came under city ownership in 1987 would it have been possible for it to have been repurposed to serve as a new city hall to replace the Government Center monstrosity instead of just becoming a hotel like it did? If I recall...

For an American example of this, we have Chicago, which has bicycle-specific signals and protected bikeways throughout the downtown area. I'm not sure about the outer neighborhoods though, I didn't have the opportunity to check those out when I was in Chicago.

That set of photos really just drives home just how massive One Beacon is to me.

Re: North-South Rail Link There wouldn't be any freight in the NSRL if it ever gets built since the link would likely be electrified and so diesel freight wouldn't be allowed in there because of the fumes that the locomotives would generate. I think this is the reason anyway.

Why the Blue Line though? It would make much more sense to me to send an Orange Line spur up that way.

The official height of 685 feet seems about good to me. Although I'd be fine if it were to be around 700.
