Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Re: Congress Street Garage Development Even if that were the case, more than half the building would still have been constructed on spec.

Re: Congress Street Garage Development ^^I know Wellington signed on early, but I don't believe it was before demolition had begun. Correct me if I am wrong.

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Re: Congress Street Garage Development I really hope we see some job growth in Q3. But when Q3 gets here they'll say Q2 2011.etc. etc. As far as spec construction, it was extremely common until recently. Locally, Fan pier, Atlantic Wharf, not to mention a majority of the office space in the...

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Re: Congress Street Garage Development ^ I think Kent would agree with you on this point, and this is exactly the issue that started this conversation. So I think we can all agree that unemployment DOES have an impact on project financing, as well as the other way around. Sorry Rifleman.

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Re: Congress Street Garage Development My understanding is that the underwriters are not going to finance an office project when offices are downsizing...not expanding. Last I checked company downsizing typically had an effect on unemployment...but I guess I could be wrong?

Re: Fenway Center (One Kenmore, Mass Turnpike PARCEL 7) ^Seems simple...we could put more tax dollars into that type of scrubber system or into education for long term benefits? Instant gratification is great, progress is better.

    Quincy Center Redevelopment

Re: $1 billion development proposed to reshape downtown Quincy ^ Would you rather see a billion dollar DOT redevelopment? Quincy in big enough, close enough to the city, and has quite a bit more potential in my opinion. The infrastructure is already in place, it just needs to be adjusted to...

    Genzyme Plant Expansion | Allston

Maybe I should clarify that throughout the process from proposal through construction, the general opinion is typically like a roller coaster. Would be very interested in learning about a recent project where general consensus was "this is going to be great!" the entire process (or the opposite).

    Genzyme Plant Expansion | Allston

You can go through many of the threads and witness the same thing...generally. Check out Atlantic Wharf, Fan Pier, or 45 Province. But, cannot say that I am impressed with this building. I do like the breakup in the shot looking towards the DoubleTree. But from Cambridge Street, not so much.
