Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Here is F-Line's commentary posted long ago on Railroad.Net. Yeah. Nobody...absolutely nobody...tries to build a transit line arse-end first. The single most important thing before they even consider giving money to the cities is: "How you gonna get there from Boston?" And that from Day 1...

I saved F-Line's screed somewhere. If I find it, I wonder if its okay to repost here? Was on Railroad.Net.

This is the former Harris Rebar site. Railfans have refered to the place as "Area 52".

Those are guardrails used on bridges. In case of a derailment, they in theory, will keep equipment in line.

Well aware of the crossing issues in Ayer, though I don't live there. The crossing issue in Framingham involves commuter rail traffic, not so much freight. Most of the freight comes in from the west into Nevens/North Yard. One or two or three freights crossing Rt 135 to Southeast Massachusetts...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Except restoring the connection at Clinton means coming out of Worcester. Worcester, at least on the CSX, is no longer equipped to handle manifest freight. Also, I fail to see the hardship of crossing Route 9 once or twice a day. The problem with the CP Yard is that you still have to shove out...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

#4 seems a tad ridiculous considering any moves to and from the place would tie up four crossings (two at intersections). Switching moves between Nevens and the North Yard ties up none.

Another welded rail train for SoCo Rail enroute. Now in Selkirk. Think its mostly destined to be dropped on the New Bedford mainline.

One other "problem" is the auto unloading facility in Spencer/East Brookfield. CSX and the in house switching railroad (EB&S) use the No.1/westbound main for staging trains between CP64 and CP60 (Spencer curves). That CP-60 was a recent addition in order to reduce having single track from...

The only thing I wonder about the Ayer/Worcester upgrade is the state's interest in the reservoir at W.Boylston? (Despite the obvious track upgrades to come) If I remember, they especially concerned after a certain derailment involving dirty dirt cars.

CPF-BY, LO and Western Avenue are still PAR controlled. I don't think that'll change until the redesign of that whole area is done. The only thing Keolis TD's can do is observe those interlockings (which are on their displays and have been since they got this latest system).

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Just a FYI - About 35 cars worth of rail came into Framingham this past weekend in two groups. All billed to Assonet, Ma. I suspect this is rail for the under construction layover yard at Weaver's Cove in Fall River. As for being billed to Assonet, the cars will probably be stored/staged at the...
