GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) You do realize that the YMCA is also tax-exempt and does not pay property taxes on its properties right? Here is the entry on the YMCA building's tax status. Note that the YMCA is absent from Boston's PILOT contributions list for...

    Brookline Infill and Small Developments

I find it sad that it's controversial to build a four-story building in Brookline. Now downgraded to three. From http://www.wickedlocal.com/brookline/news/x27453939/New-proposal-for-old-Red-Cab-site-in-Brookline-up-for-discussion

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) Won't this just harm YMCA services even more in the long run since they would lose out on the cash infusion from NU's development partner?

Silver Line - Phase III / BRT in Boston

I saw this recently and I think the Silver Line would be far more appealing (and higher capacity) if its BRT vehicles looked like this even if it isn't upgraded to rail: From http://www.flickr.com/photos/busstidningen/5638531178/in/photostream/ Technical specifications...

    T photo of the day

On the upside, there are food trucks coming into this area of Fenway. I think one of the locations is right next to the Forsyth building.

    Biking in Boston

From their twitter account it sounds like the launch is on July 26. They have bikes out but only as marketing displays ridden by the PR people.

    Biking in Boston

I noticed something funny today. In pictures: Hubway logo Hanjin Shipping Found the latter on a random shipping crate I saw in the Boston Harbor. The former is from the Hubway twitter.

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Re: Congress Street Garage Development Supposedly the goal is to have a self-sustaining community and part of that parkland is actually going to be dedicated to a farm. Maybe that might require more land than usual? That said, it's in the middle of the bay away from other people so I don't see...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

How about some cafes or food trucks? And those photos really show that the tiny strip of green isn't that much wider than the roads surrounding it.

    Emerald Court

Hey, sounds like a good time to increase frequencies and capacities on public transit, taking pressure off of your precious roadways. What's that? You don't want to pay sales tax for someone else's transit? You also don't want gas prices or parking prices to go up? Alright...

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos You mean bike racks right? I wonder why the T can't while other cities that use trackless trolleys manage to have bike racks just fine. Example from Vancouver (image from Wikipedia):

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos Is there any good reason they are giving for this move? It's not something inane like "trolley wires are unsightly" is it?

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) Also, another article on this (from the NU student paper) has some additional information. In particular, it looks like NU is planning to let YMCA members use Marino Center. http://huntnewsnu.com/2011/05/?y?-not-a-landmark-says-city/

GrandMarc Residence Hall (YMCA) @ Northeastern U | 291 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Re: YMCA/ Northeastern Dorm (formerly GrandMarc at St. Botolph) This seems counterintuitive. One side presented no evidence whatsoever but it's still a close decision? Even though it was also unanimous? Seems like a no-brainer. In any case, hurray for this going through!
