Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

The problem with building rinks is that they almost always run at a loss- very rarely a profit. Too bad Southern Maine Univ. does not build it's own rink. I think Fitzy's capacity will grow by maybe 2k when it is renovated. I wish Portland could get the Revolution to move up here since the...

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

That would be awesome, but running a mom-and-pop sandwich shop now is challenging if you are getting your meat from an actual certified kosher deli supplier. I know they are not from Maine, but Common Man has a decent product and is expanding, not sure if they have plans to enter the pine tree...

Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

Yes but that was for almost all their home games. Plus Gillette is a much larger stadium. Tidewater appears to have a capacity appropriate for a URI or Bryant home game. Did we ever find out what the actual capacity is going to be? I hope it is closer to 11k than 8k.

Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

I think URI football would benefit from playing 1 home game a year at Tidewater. Similar to Holy Cross's relationship with Polar Park. URI needs as much exposure as it can get in order to stay competitive in football. The arms race continues in college football, and the state flagship's in New...

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Do we have any word on which businesses will be on the ground floor? Here is hoping for a Maine-based company!

    Worcester Kelley Square

The state/city is in the process of finalizing a similar "peanut" rotary at the Queen City/South Willow Street intersection in Manchester, NH. I think it will be challenging at first for drivers, but once familiarity and routine are established the funky intersection stalled traffic becomes a...

Mercy Hospital | 144 State Street | Portland

Wow, excited to see how the pedestrian traffic influences this area of Portland. Looks like a fun neighborhood to call home with so many different places to explore within a short bike ride or walk. What type of companies/products might be going in the commercial spaces here? A coffee shop or...

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

UMaine would benefit from playing an annual "home away from home" game at Fitzy each year. I believe the soccer season ends in either August or September. Once the track is removed this stadium will be the best outdoor stadium in the state. I agree, put the track near at the previous...

Alfond Foundation $500 Million gift to multiple Maine entities

https://umaine.edu/news/blog/2022/10/14/umaine-alumni-phillip-and-susan-morse-donate-10m-for-new-athletics-arena/ I recently read that the Morse family donated $10 million to the new UMaine-Orono basketball facility. I really dig the renderings of the Morse Arena, looks like a modern Pit, only...

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

Red Fern, try to get the Revolution to relocate to Portland. Propose to build a 20k seat stadium on the midtown property or fuse Fitzpatrick with Hadlock Field. This Portland team can be "The Forest City Football Club" a nice little jab at the Portland Timbers. While we are at let's build a...

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Portland seems to be loaded with residents who can't grasp the concept of urban planning involving high-density housing- with double-digit stories. These hypocrites seem fine with whatever apartment they own, but they want Portland to be trapped in time or stay almost identical to what they see...

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

I live pretty close to Elm street and read they will be adding more apartments on Merrimack street - nothing massive in height, but will help with the housing shortage. I am also curious about what is going to happen with the Armory site. I was also talking with a former Michael's hair salon...

Maine Medical Center Expansion | Portland

Yes, it looks like the steel is going right to the sidewalk/street. I am surprised the locals are not freaking out at the size of the façade. I like it as it gives a truly urban look to Maine's big city. Portland continues to be a boomtown by New England standards. Traffic in this part of...

    Proposed Convention Center | Portland

Is Portland still looking at building a convention center? I have not heard any recent news. I know the peninsula is running out of land to construct a respectable size venue and the prices certainly are not going down. Always rooting for the underdog, and Portland is becoming more unlikely to...

    Worcester Infill and Developments

How can anyone afford to live in Boston? I lived in Woburn, MA for 5 years- 2005-2010 and I had affordable rent for the time ($500 a month), but had two roomates. This was a deal at the time for rent and I couldn't get any closer to Boston without paying nearly double for rent. Yes I get it...

Skyline & Aerial photos | Portland

Is there recent formal talk of an aquarium in Portland? The main issue is getting investors to get behind this. I love the idea, and near the Gulf of Maine Research Institute makes sense, but not sure a non profit could pull it off with the current economic climate being uncertain.

Roux Institute Campus Development | Portland

Yes- Portland is a city and look at that urban landscape! Gasp! Build up! Glad to see more skilled labor is being brought into Portland. I hope the NIMBY's realize that Roux's students will eventually buy their homes and add to to the tax base. Biotech is the way to go and Portland is finally...

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

I would love to see a pocket park similar to the one in the Gulch section of Nashville, put in Portland, Maine. Nice fake waterfall, with plenty of restaurants and shops to check out. Awesome area with lots of pedestrian activity.

    Shipyard Brewery | Cambria Suites | 86 Newbury Street | Covetrus | 12 Mountfort Street | Portland

Anyone have any idea when the hotel will open? Also is this the spot where Aroma Joe's is finally going on the peninsula?
