    White Flight?

I can think of two you forgot. New Orleans and Miami. N.O. is half of what it used to be but certainly it has CHARACTER....and it is again, growing. And while Miami has its downsides, few natives, a pathetic central core, the "city" and environs are distinct in North America...with 3million+...

    Revere Beach Developments/infill | Revere

I think I-93 NORTH might be an acceptable dividing line between the North Shore and what is considered MetroWest. I grew up in Lynn (accurately derided in this same post!) but I always considered Reading as North Shore. So is Lawrence and certainly Salisbury qualifies.

Re: South Boston Seaport You're all forgetting the city the Europeans lost most...ORLANDO! No kidding. I believe it exceeds european vistors to NYC.

    W Hotel | 100 Stuart St | Theater District

Re: W Hotel And I've stayed at "W" hotels many times....no one calls it "The Living room". It called a lobby...just what it is. Gimmicky, I realize.

    W Hotel | 100 Stuart St | Theater District

Re: W Hotel "Ron Newman Re: W Hotel -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The W Hotel will feature a restaurant called the Living Room ... except there's one big problem: an unrelated Living Room restaurant already exists on Atlantic Avenue, and it's...

Beverly, MA -- Fall Colors Edition

"Coastal North Shore is awsome (Salem getting the top pick for me),".... Again, I was never a fan of Salem. Terrible traffic patterns which the city has redone over and over again...only making it worse...... and SPRAWL! Yes, tiny Salem (pop. 45,000) has sprawl. Typically, the further from...

Beverly, MA -- Fall Colors Edition

thanks for that collection of rough, but charming Beverly. I grew up in Lynn so I always thought Beverly and Salem were so upscale! But both seaside cities have their flaws. Power plants and other improper development right on the coast and beaches that were never much of a draw for lack of...

    Boston 2020 Olympics

All you naysayers to a 2020 games in Boston..........are entirely correct. Boston doesn't have the will to go for it unless Mumbles decides HE wants it. Someone earlier said maybe in a generation or two...and that is probably accurate. But one can dream. With the exception of San Fran or...

    Boston 2020 Olympics

Re: Boston 2020 I think if Boson REALLY wanted the 2020 games, it could be a possibility. It will have been almost a quarter of a century since the USA hosted a summer Olympics. The only reason I see Boston not getting the nod from the USOC would be if Chicago bids again. The stadium is the...

Avalon North Station | Nashua Street Residences | West End

Re: Nashua Street Residences (North Station) Why all the harping on the O'Neill federal building? Is it only because it would be a superb site for a 55 story tower owed by a bank in federal receivership? The porch is a great place to avoid the rain for a few minutes on the walk up to Cambridge...

    W Hotel | 100 Stuart St | Theater District

Re: W Hotel I have to defend Baltimore as well. It does have some wonderful neighborhoods with beautiful rowhouse designs. Lots of great bars too in the old wharf district. I attended a game at Camden yard years ago when the Sox played the Orioles. Clemens threw a 2 -hitter. Afterwards, I...

    Driving around New England Pix's

Terrific. Thanks for making the effort to post those. I love pictures of NE, and especially Boston and its suburbs and exurbs. Miami has a great skyline but the rest of the metro area is strip malls and 4-way intersections. BORING. the landscape and architecture couldn't be more different.
