Omni Hotel @ BCEC | Summer St | Seaport

Agreed, but there will be the inevitable hotel restaurant and Starbucks that would help activate the street to some degree if they put them on the ground level with entrances from the sidewalk. Edit: Just noted there is a Starbucks in one of the renders on the D Street side. And they put in an...

100 Shawmut Avenue | South End

I'm hoping that someday the BRA will actually require street-level pedestrian renders of buildings so you can get some idea of what these things will look like if you're not a bird. This kind of looks okay, but you can't tell if the ground floor works without a proper streetscape render.

401 Park Drive (née Landmark Center) | Fenway

Re: Landmark Center Expansion | Fenway Indeed. It would seem reasonable if they kept the same building heights and footprints and shuffled around the uses, but this change is nothing like what was approved.

Seaport Square (Formerly McCourt Seaport Parcels)

I walked through here a couple of times this past weekend and was surprised by how many pedestrian crossing signals didn't work, the complete lack of any pedestrian detour signs to get through the many construction sites blocking sidewalks, and the horrible on-street death lanes for people on...

    [CANCELED] Summer St. Gondola

For a city that just spent billions to eradicate the blight of overhead roads and trains, this seems silly. If they do build it, the stations should be inside buildings, not hovering out in the open. I still want a transit connection from the Seaport to North Station that is faster than walking.

    The New Retail Thread

The state won't let the city (or any municipality) impose their own taxes. Give them to DND to redevelop as housing and local small business storefronts. Just the idea of this happening would kick Drucker et al into redeveloping the buildings.

Empty buildings are blight. The BRA should take them by eminent domain.

The Benjamin & VIA (née One Seaport Square) | Parcels B-C@Seaport Sq. | Seaport

There's no reason why they couldn't subsidize some local retail. They just weren't required to by the BRA, and these developers only do things that are required to get their permits.

^ Bonobos was recently acquired by Walmart. It's kind of sad that this is turning out to be just another zone of mall stores.

    Biking in Boston

I don't know if they're succeeding, but they certainly seem to have refocused on offering their bike share as an amenity for property managers, resorts, hotels, and campuses. It looks like a scheme that would work well for small self-contained systems. While Hubway looks incredibly expensive on...

    Serenity | 105A S. Huntington | Jamaica Plain

    1) It's in an area that desperately needs more housing; 2) Most of the abutting properties are rentals or institutions; 4) The nearby Brookhouse and VA Medical Center buildings are just as tall as this. And the BRA actually ended up doing a whole corridor planning study a few years ago in...

Quaker Lane + Congress Square | Downtown

Pretty sure that little parking lots has been there since the late '90s at least. The fence around it went up in the mid-'00s. I used to cut through there every day on my way to work.
