Here's a really complete presentation from November on the next two buildings... 250 Centre St and "Building M," on Site III across from the T station:

They *still* haven't done this? I was part of the group known as the Hyde Square Traffic Calming Coalition in Jamaica Plain that successfully lobbied to get speed humps and other traffic calming measures installed in our neighborhood **IN 1999**. We even won the Golden Shoe award from...
The 350 Bradford St. proposal 40B application was withdrawn by the developer.
It's been scaled back to what he can build as of right -- 13 units (zero affordable). The developer is on the agenda of the town Planning Board for a work session discussion about the project on Dec 10.
He also made...
I wonder if there's any public pedestrian access through the site to the Jamaicaway... (this is Jamaicaway, BTW; Riverway doesn't begin until after the bridge over Rte 9). This part of the neighborhood is pretty disconnected from the park.
I'm glad they were able to add as many units as they...
Bicycle Dutch just published a nice video today that summarizes roundabouts with separated bicycle paths:

The whole blog post is here:
Explaining the Dutch roundabout abroad
Here's what they look like:
This has been one of my pet peeves with the development of the Seaport. The streetscape is being built piecemeal by the developers as the buildings get built rather than by the city. So despite reams of streetscape guidelines I expect we'll get mismatched paving schemes, oddball streetlights...
Wow, that image above looks like it was created by someone who sells traffic signals! I seems truly bizarre that anyone would propose a six-way signalized intersection in this day and age.
The Toole Design Group sketch of a double roundabout configuration for this intersection seems much more...
Just striping a bike lane in the door zone does not make for good infrastructure and doesn't attract people who might ride a bike if they felt safer on the street.
Look at the new design guidelines that are forthcoming from MassDOT...
I tried to get this group to advocate for this a decade ago but they wanted full restoration of the entire line to Forest Hills and wouldn't compromise. Glad to see they're still pounding away at getting some streetcar service restored after all these years.
The sad thing is that the city have Toole Design working for them, and they really understand bicycles. Toole did the design for the Arborway bike facilities and wrote the Boston Complete Streets guidelines.
But on the ground I doubt that the BTD staffers are getting much training on the...
The New England Bike Walk Summit is being held in Worcester next week, and I was really surprised to see how bike-unfriendly the streets there are.
I actually had to ask the DCU Center via twitter if there is bike parking there (since I'll be arriving via commuter rail and bicycle), since it's...
No, there's no seating inside the pavilion, so it's not a very useful refuge in the hot sunshine. All the benches are out on the water.
That rendering above is hideous - I'm glad that proposal didn't move forward. Still, a little ice cream cart or lemonade stand would be a nice amenity out...
The bicycle wayfinding scheme that was put in downtown is much better than any of the signage for cars!

It's interesting that the destinations are different on the bike signs than the ones for...

I used to spend a lot of time at their original location on Broad St when I worked in the financial district. They've expanded to a couple more locations downtown and two in Dorchester.
What a horrible tragedy.
Seems like bike boxes at the stop line would be a first step to help avoid this kind of right hook in the future.

Proposals have come and gone for that one over the years (it's the Eblana Brewery). The most recent I heard was this in 2013 from the JP Gazette:

Apparently it has lots of asbestos so remediation costs will...
The two CDCs involved in this project have been doing the yeoman's work of revitalizing this part for JP for decades. The architects they use sometimes design crap, sometimes some pretty nice contextual buildings.
I lived down the street from Bromley Heath for ten years and took the Orange Line...
Jamaica Plain NDC and Back of the Hill CDC are planning to develop the vacant lots behind Jackson Square Station into 47 affordable apartments...
