    Amazon HQ2 RFP

The blue line is probably the only rail transit line in Boston that can easily handle more riders and if capacity did become an issue an easy solution is to start running the trains more frequently.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Boston is a very expensive city as well. Certainly not Manhattan levels, but if they want to keep the Celtics in the city I don't think it would be very easy for them to move to a different location.

    Fenway Infill and Small Developments

"Brutalist garbage" is historical though. The history that goes with it is not always good but the creation of the open land for the Gov't Center and State Services center as well as the buildings themselves is a historical event with major significance and while I don't personally like the...

MBTA 2021 - The year the MBTA stop sucking?

No I just looked at the ridership and the length of the line and did the calculation myself. Wikipedia gives the riders per mile on the subway/heavy rail ridership list pages but only for a whole system not individual lines. I believe it is the Braintree branch killing the red lines numbers...

MBTA 2021 - The year the MBTA stop sucking?

The orange line having the ability to get headways to around 4 minutes is a huge deal in regards to increased capacity. It is the most used line by route mile with 18,821 riders per mile using the route which is the highest ridership per mile of any subway line outside of the NYC metro area.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

I don't think it is a shortage of trains for the red line I believe the issue is that the older trains stopping distance forces longer signal blocks which means less trains are able to run on the tracks. I think they are assuming that with new trains that brake better and an update to the signal...

Back Bay Garage Tower | Dartmouth and Stuart | Back Bay

Just a quick note 500 Boylston isn't historicist it is Postmodern. It was designed by Philip Johnson and is one of the most extreme examples of the Postmodernist strategy of taking a normal classical architectural element and blowing it out of proportion. In this case the whole building is...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

This is really a crazy transit pitch but considering how much of a problem capacity seems to be for the red line and since headways are limited by the Harvard curve would it make sense to look into expanding the stations to fit 8 car trains and would that add enough capacity to make much of a...

Echelon Seaport | 133-135 Seaport Blvd | Seaport

Re: Seaport Parcels M1-M2 | Seaport Sq. | Seaport The globalization of architecture isn't altogether new though it has been happening for hundreds of years. For example there are many example of French Second Empire architecture in the Back Bay is a French Victorian era style that was popular...

Winthrop Square Garage Demolition | Downtown

Just wanted to post this here this is the submitted proposal to the FAA for the building height. The original proposed height is 758 feet for the tower with a DNE (does not exceed) height listed as 689 feet. Based on this it looks like the true height of the tower may end up being 689 feet with...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower I believe Hines either owns or leases the air rights and the MBTA owns South Station. Amtrak of course operates trains here and will want to ensure their operations are not impacted much and the USPS of course own the USPS facility. I am not sure how much the USPS is...

South Weymouth NAS Redevelopment | Southfield | Weymouth

The silver lining I see here is this will be much easier to retrofit to be truly transit oriented in the future. It will have a connected street grid and a nearby commuter rail stop so even if it has too much parking and is a little less urban than it would be ideally that can be remedied in the...

Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

Lyra (née The Huntington) | 252/258/264 Huntington Avenue | Fenway

I don't think a tall building could really be called out of scale there considering there is a 370 foot tower across the street in the CSC complex and the Prudential Tower, Four Seasons, and 111 Huntington all about a block or two away. From in front of the Midtown Hotel it will be possible to...

General Electric HQ (Necco Buildings Reno) | 5 Necco Street | Fort Point

Re: General Electric HQ | 244-284 A Street | Fort Point Amazon is not a fiasco. No tax breaks offered by the city of Boston and a solid mention of many different options with a focus on the one with the largest area that is ready to go and has the space that amazon needs.
