    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I thought 9' travel lanes were permitted in areas with low speed limits. 10 foot bus lanes I will admit I had no idea about. And Jeff's idea probably makes more sense anyways.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Or just recognize that 12 or 13 foot lanes are not entirely necessary as buses already use the narrower lanes just fine. I would do what others suggested and just take the two outer lanes for buses by plopping down some cones. If it is 38 feet of space to provide lanes that is enough space for...

    Fairmount Line Upgrade

Re: Fairmont Line Upgrade I think F-Line has said in the past that all transit tunnels are built with dimensions to be large enough for a red line car so if that is the case here for everything aside from the loop where the buses turn then yes an EMU could fit, but the stops are short enough...

Bay Village Apartment Tower | 212 Stuart St. | Bay Village

I have to be honest though if I had to choose between a facade reading well up close or it reading well from far away I would choose to have it read well up close especially for this building which will not be very visible in the skyline. It is more important that the facade read well for the...

    121 Seaport Boulevard | Parcel L2 | Seaport Square

Measuring on Google Maps based on comparing the sites as they are now to the plans it looks like this buildings is around 240 feet wide at its widest and the GCG Office Tower is about 250-260 feet wide at its widest.

UMass Boston Residence Hall 1 | Columbia Point | Dorchester

Re: New UMass Boston student housing project It is hardly the only school to do a project like this though there are many schools that have students attending that only see the school in a constant state of construction. It sucks but it also isn't unheard of.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Phase 1 is just the lowrise podium. Phase 2 is the residential and hotel towers although it is assumed those will be built starting immediately after the podium with no break in construction. Phase 3 is the office tower which will be built as soon as they secure a major tenant.

Bay Village Apartment Tower | 212 Stuart St. | Bay Village

According to the FAA the highest point on 45 Stuart Street is 338 feet. If you want to check the heights of the other points on the building search the year 2013 in the archives.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link This blog post "Where is Electrification Warranted?" gives some pretty good guidelines on deciding whether or not to electrify and I do want to note that the author of this suggests that to improve service the whole MBTA network should be electrified. The posts...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Re: NorthPoint Cambridge (The one that was train yards, the big plan.) I think that is the multi use path that is supposed to parallel the green line along the lowell line row.

Plan Nubian Square Parcel P-3 (née Tremont Crossing) | Roxbury

I was getting that same feeling DZH... something about the first two levels also makes me think of what you would get if you crossed Brutalism with High-tech style late modernism. Tbh I kind of like it even if it is a weird sort of throwback.

Avalon North Station | Nashua Street Residences | West End

It looks almost the same to me. It is the same color and the pattern of clear and opaque glass seems really similar.

MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

The Miami metro population in 2015 was 6,012,331 and the Boston metro population in 2015 was 4,774,321; therefore, Miami is actually slightly larger than Boston as far as the metro area is concerned. Conversely the Boston CSA has a population of 8,152,573 and the Miami CSA has a population of...

    Serenity | 105A S. Huntington | Jamaica Plain

I got that from Forbes who got it from a Merritt Hawkins and Associates study and based on other stats I've seen I think in Boston you can figure that starting you will probably be making between 125 K and 150K and that is the average for all primary care that I found not new grads. I am also...

MassDOT Pike Parcels 12 - 15 | Boylston St. and Mass. Ave | Back Bay

We don't necessarily need to build that tall though for example if all the residential areas in Boston had a built form similar the area around the Christian Science Center/Northeastern which averages a density of around 75,000 ppsm the city of Boston could fit 3.6 million people in the city...

    Serenity | 105A S. Huntington | Jamaica Plain

There are more than a couple people making that on average a primary care physician earns around $180,000 dollars a year and even other staff like nurses, clinical social workers, and other similar jobs earn around $60-80,000 per year. Based on that there are literally thousands of people...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower The short answer is no it couldn't have a substantial antenna because if it could then it could have a spire. From the perspective of the FAA there isn't much of a difference. I would be very surprised if the said no spire and then let an antenna of equal height be...

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

I agree with DZH here and I had assumed that those three points to the top of the corners of the building considering that would match with this building having three corners and as far as I can tell the FAA uses corners as their points in most cases. For example Millennium Tower had several...
