MBTA Winter 2015: Failure and Recovery

The weather could go one way or the other, but the one thing that we know for sure is that the T's equipment that's years past its retirement dates all now have one more year's worth of wear and tear.

    Assembly Sq <-> Casino Footbridge

People in Charlestown use the bridge over the damn locks all the time even though they randomly open when boats come through. Doesn't really seem to hurt anyone's trip in a major way.

The Alcott (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

Re: Longfellow Place (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End NorthEndWaterfront.com has the latest rundown. TL;DR: West End residents walk out of meeting. IAG NIMBY has hissy fit and resigns when her idiot concerns not taken seriously. EDIT: 2 mins too slow on my end!

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Re: The Boston Garden (TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End As is, the stairwells seem to funnel people pretty smoothly out of the building. And that's with the current configuration of having to go outside and go back into the subway.

    Grand Prix of Boston

The best thing my old boss told me was, "don't get out in front of the clients." This is the second time Walsh has broken the rule.

Bulfinch Crossing | Congress Street Garage | West End

Re: Congress Street Garage Development | West End ^ Seriously. I don't need a super tall. I don't need anything spectacular. All I need is some activation on Sudbury and New Chardon. Anything else is a bonus.

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport I think that's something we can all agree on, even after taking into account the off years from the Great Recession. Menino took too much time needlessly micromanaging projects all over the city - here more than anywhere else - and the ridiculous...

One Canal (formerly Greenway Center) | Bullfinch Triangle | West End

Delay could be a possibility, but I don't think anyone in this market is worried about sales, especially near downtown.

    Is parking too cheap?

I hope this can survive the shit storm. It manages to combine so many facets of the Boston NIMBY zeitgeist into one program. CARS! PARKING! YUPPIES! PRIVATIZATION (ironically or un-ironocally, depending on your view point on curbside parking)!

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

It's cool that the tower accentuates how much it's at the center of ye olde Bostone (DBA Downtown Crossing) and how much of the surrounding area has been historically oriented in that direction.

The Harlo (née Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King))| 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway I miss Scott Van Soar-hees. These young cub reporters just don't know how to instill the appropriate level of fear into the NIMBYs.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Re: MBTA Survey - Pick the New RL, OL, & GL Livery I honestly don't care, and in all honesty, sort of feel like I'm telling Marie Antoinette that the regional transit system is crumbling under systemic structural and financial pressure and she's telling me that I can eat cake. Not to get too...

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Re: The Boston Garden (TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End I believe it's just the towers that haven't been approved, but that the pedestal is good to go and that the construction plan for a while has been, "build the pedestal, then one tower, then the final tower."

One Canal (formerly Greenway Center) | Bullfinch Triangle | West End

@617 There hasn't been anything I've heard around the North End. At one point in the Supermarket Saga, this was going to be the location. That was before the new Garden building agreed to sign one on, but who knows - maybe another could go in here? Personally, I think the area could support one...
