Retirees are actually a pretty significant group that gets almost completely overlooked when we're talking about the "Gentrification Wars." We assume it's all young people, yuppies, monied techies, etc. Then we assume we can solve the problem by building micro-units, co-habitation units, etc...

It's over a vent and over the highway, so I'll cut them some slack.

From the North End Parks, you can start to get the feeling of how that area will be transformed into more of a "room" with this building complete and then the GC Garage tower and Haymarket Hotel added in. It's a nice effect.

Please tell me that it's at least a wing of DND, and not some new stand alone.

To replace the ferry terminal that they built during the Big Dig and then promptly tore up. Great planning... It's probably also worth noting that the Charlestown Bridge is a real limiting factor here. You can't get the Navy Yard Ferry, or the Hingham/Hull, Salem, Lynn Seasonal, etc. under...

I'm local, and use it to get up to the Whole Foods, Home Depot, Target, etc. But still, it's basically deserted considering how many lanes there are. I wouldn't be surprised if a traffic study showed that the majority of traffic going through Sullivan doesn't go down Rutherford.

Went into the new Gordon's Liquor/Moody's on Temple Place on Thursday. It's really nice. I'd highly suggest anyone who's interested to check it out.

Hopefully the Quaker Lane project ends up like that. And then, hopefully people like it enough that we get similar projects all over the city.
