AvalonBay Tower (Jacob Wirth's) | 45 Stuart Street | Downtown

I like the glass and the vertical windows. I'm still not sure how the ribbon portion would do. If that section wasn't as tall as it is, i wouldn't be worried but it climbs up most of the building.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 If they don't take down the other Belkin building, at least the tower will be sleek and slim no matter what they height. That said, I hope its the 740+ to get break the downtown plateau.

Suffolk Downs Redevelopment | East Boston/Revere

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment Potential ^Every resident that votes against a substantial development plan (not saying everything needs to be gigantic) to promote more quiet city streets should be forced to sign a waiver that they cannot complain about high housing costs, gentrification or...

Suffolk Downs Redevelopment | East Boston/Revere

Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment Potential Realistically, this plot of land is bigger than Assembly with 2 heavy rail stations and less of a shopping spot (no 93 like Assembly). It should be 10-15k housing and a fair bit of office with the retail and commercial uses to serve the area. In...

MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

Re: MIT East Campus/Kendall Square Gateway I know the land is just to valuable for residential, but they should add some serious height bonuses for those that do. Volpe rebuild should have a high rise residential. Also, walk down Mass Ave in Central and look at all the 1-2 story buildings...

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

The way this closes in the street, even just with 1.5-3 stories is great. Does so much more for the environment, even when just a concrete shell.

    Westwood Station Developments

So big parking lots next to big stores and a big train station. What a waste. Is there any significant housing component left?

    MA Casino Developments

Not that this is an explicit consideration- and I don't think it should- but someone may have mentioned throughout that Suffolk Downs sure looks like a good spot to build some secure Olympics facilities that could then be integrated with the neighborhood. Heavy Rail and airport to boot.

    MA Casino Developments

I think if Wynn wins, i'll be more likely to vote for the measure. It seems to be very much wanted by Everett and will really be the only thing for 20 years that is done on that site. I think too much is made of the downside, and i think Wynn will very much be going to for the higher end, out...

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

The hill goes up but the site is pretty flat. They could have probably made the second row from Somerville Ave 5 stories and be in even shape for most Somerville neighbors expectations. I'm actually kinda surprised they didnt scale it. The Somerville Ave part will definitely loom large and...

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

At least the streetwall will be filled in. That mini strip with the Dunkin and wings over lot should be brought out to the street (although its active). Most of Somerville is a 3 story residential so this follows a decent form. A lot of the individual auto-repair shops on Somerville Ave are...

    MA Casino Developments

^Well Springfield's will be right next to the MassMutual Center, so i bet a lot more concerts will be coming through. Just think, if its going to Hartford now, MGM would want to make up the difference to get the casino and hotel traffic. If Suffolk Downs gets the Boston license, I hope the...

    The Orange Line Thread

At this stage its more a shopping destination and will do better afternoons and late evenings until partners and more residences are built.

    Running Summary of Major Projects

New building or not that would be a huge deal for the Boston financial community which is already at the top of the global class.

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

Is that mainly partners or is it different?

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

^ I agree. But the people driving down from the north shore, or taking the orange line from malden or driving in from new hampshire to go to a movie or legoland and do some outlet shopping will see all the yuppies in the local chains and walk into outback. Outback will do fine. Other...

    Brockton Developments

This is nice. I hope the people add some more vibrancy to downtown and some new restaurants and amenities pop up around the station (and jobs). Brockton is in a good location and has made great strides in its school system.

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Re: NorthPoint Cambridge (The one that was train yards, the big plan.) Trader joes would kill here. I like trader joes' but none are super convenient to where i am. I feel like a lot of people would also trek down the GLX to hit it up (when possible in 10 years)

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

Maybe the demolition is just simply that whatever gets built there will not reuse the crappy theater building and with the station, assembly row construction and upcoming partners building, the owner got a good price on them knocking the thing down.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

They also list Seattle, which only has 7 more departures than logan. Could they be trying to use it as an international jumping off point. They have air France and Ailitalia in Skyteam and they also have Korean Air and 2 big China ones. If one or both the the Asian carriers come in, or Delta...
