    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Pittsburgh has a college student population of 100K+. Pitt and CMU account for about half that. Yes, it is smaller than many cities. I'm not trying to compare Pittsburgh to Boston or San Francisco, but the place is hardly lacking in world-class robotics, computer science, engineering, medical...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Pittsburgh tops or comes near to the top of every list of "top choices for millennials." Has for years. Hardly "ïn decline" as another poster suggested. Really, people need to get out more...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

I can't help but think that Pittsburgh is almost an ideal site for Amazon--two powerhouse universities in the new Global Rankings Top 50 with many smaller ones (not on par with Boston, but top-notch nonetheless--CMU is an engineering and robotics leader), Pitt/CMU grads would love to stay but...

Winter Garden | 100 Federal St. | Financial District

I rather like it, so far.

The Harlo (née Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King))| 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway I do recall we heard something about CAVA coming to town (maybe New Retail thread?). Very exciting! Really, Tatte and CAVA send a pretty solid message about the management company running the retail in this building.

Pierce Boston (née The Point )| Boylston St/Brookline Av | Fenway

Good summary. I think they need to put a sizable marker on Brookline near the Fenway with a message reading "The Pierce looks great if you stand...right...here"

The Harlo (née Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King))| 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway I really like how this turned out. There were a couple points there at which I thought it could go either way--just "off" enough to look awkward and not off enough to look interesting. Conversely, it could have gone for...

For all the supertall fanboys and fangirls, Google London!!!!!

+1. Nothing convinces me more that I really don't understand aB aesthetics than the widespread enthusiasm for this building. It seems almost comically ugly to me--kind of Soviet gigantism-meets-Houston-corporate park...with a green roof. The comparison with the Viola is apt, I think--that too is...

could be mistaken for another Sephora. :)

One Kenmore Square | 560 Commonwealth Avenue | Kenmore Square

Re: Hotel Tower | 560 Commonwealth Ave | Kenmore Square I think one has to exercise some critical judgment when deciding to do as someone says in the name of community solidarity. If a request comes from someone like Lrfox or datadyne, that's a bit different than if it comes from members known...

The Harlo (née Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King))| 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway

Re: Skanska Fenway Project (Burger King) | 1350 Boylston Street | Fenway I love the Formica™ look; like 888 Boylston it's nice to have a building that doesn't take itself too seriously. It doesn't have to be genius--shakes things up a little.

New England Conservatory Residence Hall | St. Botolph St. | Back Bay

I was just looking at this last night. Very classy building.

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

I agree, and not just the Greenway. A few well-positioned, right-sized kiosks would not go amiss in the Fens near the playing fields or Agassiz Road, the Riverway, Jamaica Pond etc.

Cava is a-maz-ing. Kind of a more ethnic SweetGreens.

Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

I know the plan is to make the pool shallower and dissected on the diagonal (yeah, unfortunate); does anyone have any skinny on how long this project will take?

    The New Retail Thread

:D Love this analysis! As someone who went to school in Western PA, this confirms pretty much everything we think about North-Central PA. ;)

    The New Retail Thread

+1. The charms of Dunkin Donuts is completely lost on me--to call it mediocre is an insult to mediocrity. I feel very sad for the north-central PA town for which this was the "only good thing in town." Wow.

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

Very nice! I can't tell from the pictures how spacious the area is; the original gate area in E felt cramped even when it technically wasn't crowded. The Boston sign is a nice touch. A little odd how the gates are identified in four different ways in four different fonts (and it doesn't look...

    The New Retail Thread

I've been several times (most recently about 3 days ago) as I live nearby and the the fresh vegetables section is really quite the bargain (it must be a loss leader for them to get people to shop there more routinely). I think it is hugely successful. Still fairly packed most times with a line...
