yeah, it's kinda Behavioral Economics 101.

Boston Properties Office Tower | 888 Boylston Street | Back Bay

I love the funky asymmetries at the bottom and the relentless symmetry at the top (though the turbines are really annoying--I hope that once 'the moment passes' for green gimmicks in 5-10 years they will find an interesting way to replace them). Though the word is not often associated with...

    Taj Boston for Sale

I think it's nice to have an elegant, not-typically-staid hotel. I really don't find it that over the top. Believe me, there are LOTs of OTT luxe properties in the world (not that I stay at any of them :)) and this ain't one.

Thanks atlantaden for the photos! I look forward to checking it out in person tomorrow.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower Looks like a worthy (i.e., equally inoffensive and uninteresting) sister to MT; yet another missed opportunity to do something distinctive/engaging. But it's tall(ish) and glassy, so I guess it passes community standards for "iconic."

Even in the evening? Serious question--I would have thought they would but maybe I am overlooking something obvious.

401 Park Drive (née Landmark Center) | Fenway

Re: Landmark Center Expansion | Fenway Now if we could just breed a species of goat or sheep with webbed feet and superior swimming abilities. I don't know why we continue to call ourselves a hub of bioengineering if we can't...

Boston Properties Office Tower | 888 Boylston Street | Back Bay

I couldn't agree more. Gimmicky wind turbines aside, I think this is one of the 10 nicest buildings that have gone up in the last 5 years. The plaza promises to really animate this end of Boylston and the entrance into the Pru is very nice.

401 Park Drive (née Landmark Center) | Fenway

Re: Landmark Center Expansion | Fenway I know additional seating/improved lighting is in the cards. I thought phragmite eradication throughout the Muddy was part of the plan.

    Fenway Infill and Small Developments

I like it too--looks like a chunkier (shorter) version of the Copley Place tower. I think this area could really use some investment--maybe it would focus a little attention on making Charlesgate a pedestrianized link between the Esplanade and Fens, currently a crazy gap in my view.

They may be a bit behind schedule; I went in to the Visitor's Center to ask precisely about this just as a community meeting to discuss this was getting underway (I couldn't stay). The guy running the meeting said that the temporary fencing materials would probably be removed in October.

Public Food Market | 136 Blackstone Street | Haymarket | Downtown

BPM is an awkward size--not big enough to really be a real farmers' market + gourmet foods mall (though it does better on the latter than the former), and just big enough to accentuate the food-courty aspects. It kinda turned out as I expected. Twee vegetables lovingly curated by someone named...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

I was thinking about this recently. Yes, the bar has definitely been lowered for the traveling public, but in the last two years it seems that that very low bar has been raised a bit and there is a consistency of service that I think we have learned to live with. Back in the day (30 years ago) I...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Re: South Station Tower I think the fact that the CEO lives here is not a very compelling case for moving a multi-billion dollar company. CEOs come and go at the discretion of the board. It would be nice to see BOA HQ'd here for the prestige, jobs, etc., but Charlotte remains a relatively good...

    Gov't Center Station Rebuild

djimpact--not sure how datadyne has been anything other than appropriately upbeat, informative and helpful (have you ever bothered to report something to MBTA so they could address it?).

    Gov't Center Station Rebuild

Just transferred from the Blue on my way in from the airport. Certainly, the nice terrazzo floor and the 1000% improvement in lighting are highpoints and the headhouse and surface station are very nice. But I have to say I am underwhelmed with the space--still feels very '70s, very cramped, and...
