    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

FMCB/MassDOT had a presentation on Silver Line ramp access. 3 takeways: They found no evidence the ramp was built with anything other than emergency vehicles in mind They maintained it would be unsafe for Silver Line buses to use the ramp when Pike traffic is at full highway speeds With the...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

The tunnel used by Thameslink through central London is 150 years old. The Thameslink Programme was about improving access to said tunnel.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

It seems to be engineers are also saying "make it wider". The federal guidelines, which I have yet to see a compelling argument should be ignored, call for a minimum of an 11ft wide path with a minimum 1ft buffer on each side before any fences or barriers...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

It's going to be permanently above grade at Harvard St. And GLX isn't removing any grade crossings (since there aren't any south of the mystic). Also even many of the "below grade" portions probably aren't deep enough for decking; like there's many places where the tracks are built at nearly the...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Like the Southwest Corridor? No. To deck it, you would need it to fully in a trench.

Because American Transit agencies didn't get the memo they exist until after the order was placed.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

This has been an advertised service provided by the mbta for several years now (for awhile I think they even advertised as free, but I don't know that's always still true). Also this ignoring the possibility of a coordinated transfer at Readville, which were discussed during the fmcb...

The renderings in fact do not show South Station at all.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

The plan is to open it to the public once the new development goes in. Currently it can't be opened to the public since there isn't a any way for the public access it.

    Green Line Type 10 Procurement

I'm going off this slide from last year's Type 10 presentation, which doesn't envision Type 10 deliveries as starting until 2024/5.

    Green Line Type 10 Procurement

By the time all the Type 10s will be delivered, the Blue Line cars will be up to 23 years old.

Regional New England Rail (Amtrak & State DOT & NEC)

Re: Amtrak / Regional Rail Discussion Thread If we can't get even SCR for $2billion, a 45 min train to Springfield would cost WAY more than $2billion.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, this doesn't appear to be the case. Just checking in google maps: Brighton Ave is ~80ft wide and Comm Ave is 110-115ft (measured between curbs).

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

Think of it from the perspective of an infrequent rider. Not needing to worry about another card and how much money is on it would be godsend, particularly if you use a station/stop that won't have FVMs. At least for the commuter rail, tapping in would be a must for passholders. (unless...

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

That's a possibility, but Harvard Ave, Allston St, Warren St, and Coolidge Corner are all one dot.

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

I think confusion would be better stated as why does Fenwood Rd get them? It's the third least used GL station and is <500ft from Brigham Circle which will also be getting FVMs. If you can put FVMs at Fenwood Rd, I can't see why you couldn't put fare validators on the (South) Huntington...
