I’m a fan of nostalgia but also progress. Chain restaurants aside, you still have The Fours and West End Johnnie’s. The Penalty Box wouldn’t fly in that area today. 1) It would look out of place amongst the new buildings. 2) It’s not a welcoming atmosphere.

There was talk of building a Celtics Arena in the Seaport but that idea quickly fizzed out. And I think you’re right. The TD Garden will be there for years to come. Which is fine by me. They can utilize that big barn for years to come and refurbish it for life. They have the footprint.

These would’ve been a waste of money and resources. A much better option would’ve been to make US-201 a divided four lanes from Waterville to the U.S./Canadian border with the future A-73 extension. With that said, there are a lot of tough Mainers who would stand in the way of that plan.
