    The Official MBTA System Map

I like the layout and all the details but the black background may make some people think that this is for "night-owl" service only, or similar. Also, for me, a white background is just easier to read.

Everett Transportation (SL3 extension, potential OLX/GLX, Sweetser Circle infill station)

A subway underneath Broadway would be expensive, so how about an elevated above Broadway from Sweetser Circle to the Saugus Branch? Broadway is wide enough for center supports for the elevated, plus a travel lane and protected bike lane each way. No room for on-street parking of course...

Great Scott Redevelopment | 1 Harvard Ave | Allston

The right side looks strong with clean lines. The left side looks wavy and messed up. That could just be the render.

    Looks a lot like Hiroshima.

    Old Colony phase 4, 5, & 6 | 72-110 Mercer street | South Boston

Ongoing future maintenance of these new buildings and grounds will be critically important. They can build fancy structures, or plainer structures, but if they're allowed to deteriorate it all doesn't matter. When my family moved into the Jefferson Park housing project in Cambridge in 1954...

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Taking a tour in 1930 on the trolley cars, elevated trains, and extensive passenger rail lines all over the greater Boston area and beyond would be the ultimate trip.

    "Dirty Old Boston"

On the Facebook site you linked for this photo, it says 1930. That's about right, because looking at historicaerials.com, the 1938 aerial photo on it shows the Mass DPW building on Nashua Street already built, but in this aerial photo it wasn't yet built. Thanks for the great aerial. Boston...

Cape Cod Rail, Bridges and Highways

What JeffDowntown said. Also, the dual bridges allow the new alignment to be closer to the original alignment, resulting in less ROW acquisition and environmental impacts (smaller expansion of the roadway footprint). With a dual bridge, you can build one of the new bridges next to the existing...

Replacing the Tobin with a tunnel

Apparently, replacing the Tobin bridge with a tunnel is still a possibility with MassDOT.

North Station, Charles River Draw, & Tower A

That's the problem with that type of whitish concrete in this climate. It ends up looking like crap.

North Station, Charles River Draw, & Tower A

Fully agree about an industrial look. There's no need to have every structure in this historically industrial/railroad yard area look like some antiseptic whitish thing out of Miami.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

At least both are adding residential units to downtown.

    Boynton Yards | 99-101 South/808 Windsor | Somerville

The architecture is neo-Gregorian according to info I found, but I always thought of it as neo-colonial, especially the ornate wood framing around the outside doorway entrances. I think the cupolas (towers) on the high rise buildings' roofs are a nod to the colonial theme. Jefferson Park in N...

    Boynton Yards | 99-101 South/808 Windsor | Somerville

Roosevelt Towers is the name of the housing project. I just hope they don't tear down these fine buildings and replace them with new generic Lego-Land apartment blocks.

West End Library | 151 Cambridge Street | West End

The one concern I have is that residents might park illegally, or drop off people, or have things delivered, in the way of fire trucks trying to leave the station.

Harvard Enterprise Research Campus | 100 Western Avenue | Allston

That last one looks like an AI produced render, like if I told AI to come up with a colonial style design. There is just something odd about it.

Roads and Highways General Development Thread

Come on, it's a tried and true Boston area tradition to have sunken manholes, rusty girders and railing on bridges, confusing signs, double parking, and Masshole drivers. It's part of the unique charm. ;)
