The changes Boston has undergone over the past 20 years or so just leave me absolutely astounded. I'd never have imagined a city as conservative and backwards-looking as this one could have undergone such a massive transformation in such a short period of time.

I realized that after I had posted my question. All the residential and office high-rises that will be opening in the area will keep the North End restaurants well-supplied with diners.

Anyone knowledgeable on the subject care to comment on how this proliferation of eateries in the Seaport may affect other dining destinations in the city, particularly the North End?

Maybe the ongoing soap opera with Millenium Tower (SF) had something to do with that. LOL. Sounds like they're really not taking any chances: Treviicos stated that the project included strict quality control procedures, including the first time use of crosshole sonic logging (CSL) in the Boston...

"Woonerf" is an interesting-looking/sounding word. If I ever write a Jane Austen-type novel the romantic protagonists will be two aristocrats named Lady Woonerf and Lord Waterfeature. I can also see using it in the remake of a classic: "Woonerf.....Woonerf.....Woonerf....."

Ewww...That looks so LeCorbusier/Chandigarh. Not my favorite style of architecture. I didn't know MIT was putting up this dorm. No idea how I missed this thread.

My objection isn't to having the benches as a seating component, but to the style of benches they went with. They would look perfectly fine along the Esplanade or Jamaica Pond, but they're jarringly out of place here.

Can you upload some pics of chairs that you consider modern and urban? I'm trying to imagine what they might look like but I'm coming up blank.

After looking at EdMc's pics I'm surprised there isn't any movement to build this. It would be a fantastic addition to Seaport Common and I'm sure it would draw even more people to liven up the area.

I'm of two minds about all these monumental structures NYC has been constructing lately (the Vessel, the Shed, now this and possibly others I don’t know about). On the one hand they’re very cool and original structures. On the other hand, they have an air of overbearing grandiosity about them...
