Couldn't agree more! I would never have imagined back when I was a student during the rise of the Silber bunkers that my alma mater would someday erect a building like this.
I'm starting to worry that the lab spatial density in Bos/Camb is reaching a saturation point the spacetime continuum can't support and the whole metro area will collapse into a lab hole from which not even a virus can escape.
Looks like the BIG brother of the pavilion that was proposed for the Seaport park. Wonder whatever happened to that. It looked pretty cool and a great place to hang out in good weather...
Looking at these windows undulating in and out makes me feel kind of seasick. Anyone else have a similar reaction?
Maybe some passers-by will feel the same when it's done and it will become known as the Seasick Building.
Mmm...I don't know. People here constantly go on about how horrible this is, but it doesn't look that bad. Still not seen it IRL, but for me it sort of works, even the WHOOP.
I think that "all the people who were against Columbus Center" basically came down to Ned Flaherty and the guy who headed the community advisory committee. Ned was just fighting to preserve his views and I have no idea what the other guy's motives were. They sure knew how to work up a crowd, though.
It has a certain affinity with the Pierce in that regard. Those developers basically incorporated a hero shot component into their building. Good thing too, otherwise there'd be nothing there to meet the eye.
Two comments:
1. This is starting to look like a mighty impressive skyline to me. (y)
2. I love the layered look of these pics, with the brick base on the bottom and the glass and steel towers rising from the base.
