Amazon Office Tower I | 111 Harbor Way (Seaport Square Parcel L4) | Seaport

Anyone know what this art(?) is supposed to represent? The throat of a whale?

Lewis Hall | Harvard Law School | Cambridge

It's great because it's occupied by Harvard people, and their presence imbue it with their greatness. 🙃

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

This is pretty close to what the renderings of One Dalton looked like, silvery and reflective. Pity 1D didn't turn out this way. It would look much better if it had.

Fusion reactor at Devens. 3-D Printing at Devens

Yup. I think quite a few aB members would have loved to mount him on a trebuchet and send him soaring to parts unknown.

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

Not quite sure how I feel about this Vegas-on-the-Mystic look. The one good thing I can think of is that the Encore is just across the way and both sides of the river may merge into one large entertainment district once they're tied together by a bridge.

Iron Works | 323-365 Dorchester Ave | South Boston

^ Sorry, shmessy. My brother says he doesn't like to make comments that could be construed as endorsement or criticism of past or present people, policies, organizations, etc.

Fusion reactor at Devens. 3-D Printing at Devens

https://www.enr.com/articles/53327-nuclear-fusion-startup-facility-isnt-the-only-project-heating-up-central-mass-construction-market OMG!!! HE'S ALIVE! The article is by none other than "Mr. Soaring Tower" himself, Scott Van Voorhis. It's been ages since I've come across his name and I'd given...

Iron Works | 323-365 Dorchester Ave | South Boston

I just had a thought. Maybe Boston just attracts dull boring people who aren't much into hellraising and rabblerousing. There may be a silver lining in things like liquor licenses that are hard to get and early closing times for bars and clubs. Things like that make the town too boring for the...

Iron Works | 323-365 Dorchester Ave | South Boston

Anyone have any idea why that is? My brother, who recently retired from the police, says a small part of it is that the BPD has fairly good relations with minority communities, at least compared to other cities, but that's certainly not the whole explanation. What do people here think are...

The Bon | 1260 Boylston Street | Fenway

I'm getting a little uneasy about the lack of stylistic unity in all the new Boylston construction. There doesn't seem to be (at least from what I can see in the photos posted on aB) any sort of common architectural or design element to relate the buildings to one another or establish an overall...

Gables Seaport (née Waterside Place 1B) | 505 Congress Street | Seaport

HEY! I resemble that remark! The worst building(s) in the Seaport is Park Lane Seaport and I will not stand idly by while you devalue and discredit its sterling and well-deserved reputation. You take back what you said or my attorney will be taking you to court for your libelous slander.

    Everett Infill and Small Developments

This is cool. Would love it if the end result looked like this with just a few more finishing touches.

BU Data Sciences Center | 665 Commonwealth Avenue | BU Central

At first glance I thought some sci-fi obsidian tower had popped into the skyline. Quite a WTF moment, however fleeting.

    Random Boston Architectural Finds

That takes me back. My first job out of college was at Bank of New England doing COBOL programming for their trust accounting system. I was on a pretty high floor with a killer view of the North End and the harbor out of my office window. Fun times. Back then our bosses would take us to lunch...

Boston Arts Academy | 174 Ipswich Street | Fenway

It's interesting and I like it, but it looks more like a Big Dig tunnel vent than a school. I question how appropriate that design approach was.

Duh. "Ringworld". Should focus my attention more on what I'm doing and not try to multitask.

BU Data Sciences Center | 665 Commonwealth Avenue | BU Central

I'd say it's a worldwide gimmick, and as usual Boston is jumping in towards the tail end of the trend after all the novelty has worn off. Boston is sort of like the architectural equivalent of The Hindmost from the sci-fi classic "The Mote in God's Eye".

Omni Hotel @ BCEC | Summer St | Seaport

Quite agree. I think that's because — as I posted somewhere upthread — the architects got their inspiration from the Little Building. Can't use a classic like that as a model without some of its elegance seeping into your design.

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Cuba where the cigars used to come from? I thought that was a no-no.

Patience, young(?) grasshopper. Now that they1 have built it, they2 will come (eventually).
