South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Today 9/6 to the right of the image...visible from the Cambridge side of the Esplanade.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

They crushed it with this place. The views, the space itself, the accessibility, the vibes...just perfect. So awesome. I'll have to come back with the wife once some more of the food options are open.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XVIII (2024)

One more set with a place I adore - The Longwood Galleria. It looks exactly - and I mean, EXACTLY - the same as it did when I first went there as a sixie at BLS back in 1997. I love everything about this, the colors, the designs, the art. And it pains me to know that at some point they will...

    Boston Skyline Photos

From today 9/6. I can't take a photo too much more Boston than the skyline with a duck boat.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I just really like how the arrow on the sign to the left points up to the top of the tower.

North Station Gateway | 251 Causeway St | Bulfinch Triangle

251 Causeway's owner has been trying to get the VA Clinic out of there for several years now. The VA had difficulty finding a replacement lease in the vicinity and has recently decided to give up on that front and move those services to the JP campus. I knew the owner must have had reasons to...

Thank you! I was wondering what was going in there - went to the dentist that used to be there for a little bit.

Northeastern University Multipurpose Athletic Facility | 262 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

I get that, I was referring to the idea of putting a full dorm tower over the arena at the base. I agree with your premise - they really could just use the existing bowl, perform the structural repairs and simultaneously build out the infrastructure around it and achieve the same goals.

Northeastern University Multipurpose Athletic Facility | 262 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

This is the inverse, but one of the best building reuses is the old Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, which was converted into a multi-use facility with a supermarket on the lower levels and then Ryerson University's athletic center above, including a 2,500 seat arena at the top. Very cool in that...

Northeastern University Multipurpose Athletic Facility | 262 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

To go along with that, I think what's frustrating here is that Matthews Arena belongs to Boston more than it belongs to Northeastern. Not in terms of actual ownership but that so much of importance to the city happened in that building. With the new building, Northeastern is claiming that space...

    Worcester Infill and Developments

https://www.telegram.com/story/news/local/2024/08/26/wpi-letter-explains-hotel-purchases/74954576007/ The Hampton Inn would be converted to housing by 2026, while the Marriott would continue to operate as a hotel until 2030.

    Cars

I took my mom's old Canon from the '70s to Watkins Glen when I went, and finally got back the photos from the developer. I didn't really know what I was doing, but they came out gloriously vintage looking so I count it as a win. Stick tap to LB Wheaton in Worcester for some help with everything.

    Proposed watertown ferry

Very Epcot. (So now I have the music from this Barbie/Disney VHS that my sister got at Bradlees 30 years ago stuck in my head). I don't see how having to make 10 docking procedures on a trip is going to be any quicker than a bus that can just pull over.

    Worcester Infill and Developments

There's almost definitely at least a first right of refusal in whatever agreements were signed when they sold that land to the hotel operators. Whether it was premeditated that they could take over the buildings themselves as dorms I'd question, but it would have been negligence to fully cede...

Commonwealth Pier Revitalization (née Seaport WTC)| 200 Seaport Boulevard | Seaport

Yeah, but it's also something like 700,000 SF of space between the two levels. That, and being on a pier can't make it any easier.
